    Riving Knives in America...

To a degree, you're right. However the geometry of the saw does not permit the RK to be visible at the shallowest settings. The blade does not rise vertically but rotates around a pivot. (At least on my Ferm Z250 it does). This means that if,at the lowest setting, the RK is level with the top of...

    Riving Knives in America...

Dilemma. The riving knife on my saw (like, I believe most others) is taller than the blade, to support the guard. moreover it has a little, permanently attached, stub axle for the guard to pivot on. This means that I cannot use a sled or a tenon jig with the knife and guard in place. Nor can I...

    router collet problems

The collets are horrendously expensive. Elu are now Black and Decker owned. Trend sell suitable collets. Did you lubricate the collet? If so this is probably the cause of the problem. Wash it with solvent to effect a cure. (Please refrain from embarassing me by asking how I know :( )

    Which table saw.

The saw you posted is identical to my Ferm Z250. OK for the money, in my opinion. Don't count on using a Dado stack. European saws are not made to take one. I had the blade off mine yesterday and you could maybe fit a 1/4" dado stack safely. The stock blade isn't up to much. I replaced mine...

Facon capacitor required for my bandsaw - Help

You don't need a Facon cap. Any equivalent will do. Buy the same MF rating, same or higher voltage rating and you're OK. The usual snag is the shape. The one you find usually has a different shape and may not fit in the available space.

table saw with no mitre slot

Before buying my Ferm Table Saw I had a Skil 7 1/2" circular saw mounted on a Wolfcraft machine table. This has no mitre slot but you could buy a bolt-on side rail which carried a mitre fence. They don't seem to make this any more so I can't post a link but it could spark an idea. What worked...

    plastic laminate/formica

There might be a smidgen of confusion here. Plastic Laminate is only a couple of mm thick. You glue it to the underlying wood. You must "balance" it with laminate on the other side to avoid warping. The balancing sheet can be a cheaper sheet if you're using expensive stuff. Note that you can...
