    Clear vision - or dust?

Perhaps you do this already: if the elastic band of the disposable dust mask is too loose, you can always tie a wee knot in it to effectively make it shorter and tighter. Might help reduce the steam build up.

    Any progress with this David?

    CNC Milled Cairngorm Table

Sorry I don't really know of any hardwood suppliers in the cairngorm area. I had a quick look on google but didn't find much (there were a few but mainly supplied softwoods for construction etc). If you want to check them yourself: http://www.bsw.co.uk/ http://www.russwood.co.uk/...

    CNC Milled Cairngorm Table

Wow, looks really impressive! What's the overall size and how is it constructed? Do you simply use one large block or layers? I take it, it would be quite time consuming and cost a lot of money to make something like this?

    My Messy Workshop

Nice workshop you've got there, must be great having the wood burner for those cold days! :) How do you find the Ferm drill press by the way?

    Small bandsaws

I have the Jet too, it's a decent bandsaw. The main let down is the table and fences, the rip fence wobbles off vertical, the ends aren't supported so the thin aluminium flexes. The mitre gauge is useless, the slot is too big so the fence wobbles by a few degrees at least. If I had the choice...

    Boxes with art

Those boxes look fantastic! The pyrography is great as is the boxes themselves, like the joints and chamfers. :) Wouldn't mind giving pyrography a go myself, since I quite enjoy pencil drawing, but the machines aren't cheap.

    New shed/workshop build

Yeah, always interesting to follow. Would love to build my own some day. Just a question, it looks like you're not orientating the sheds in the same direction, why is that? Would it not be easier to have the gables in a line, or the sheds side by side? :)

    Front door set

Looks very smart, like the idea although it does screw with your head a bit! :D

    Workshop Chaos.. Desperation setting in!

What about a summerhouse style shed? This is one my folks have in their garden, my brother uses it for putting his bike and other tools in. (Sorry only photo I've got at the moment and it's covered in snow!) It's bang in the middle of our back garden which isn't huge and can be seen from the...

    Teak Cabinet - knobless

Looks great, I agree about the knobs. Maybe if you want metallic, what about satin nickel?

    Workshop Chaos.. Desperation setting in!

Hehe, that's ok. 15 feet makes more sense. :D I think the rules might be different for a stand alone shed in your garden compared to covering over the side yard. Was this covering more like a lean to on the side of the house and over the driveway? If so, different rules might apply since it...

    Workshop Chaos.. Desperation setting in!

That's an unusual 'regulation', why no wooden sheds within 15 metres of houses? Is that something to do with fire or something? How did you find that rule out? (I'm an architect in training and not heard of something like that, but then again I am newly qualified and in Scotland :) ). I...

    Workshop Chaos.. Desperation setting in!

That was my first thought! All my stuff is in a single garage as well, but I don't think I've got half the amount of stuff you do! What do you find is your biggest issue with such a space?

Lidl bench grinder - induction motors usual in such tools ?

Ok thanks for the info Bob. I asked my brother to get one for me when at work today (if there is any), so we'll see what it's like later. I've never used a bench grinder before, only oil stones, so any info is welcomed. (hammer)

Lidl bench grinder - induction motors usual in such tools ?

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows actually how well this thing works? Would it be fine for getting the primary bevel on chisels etc? My brother works at Lidl too, so I could probably get it for even less. :)

Saving up for a band saw- is this one good?

I have the Jet JWBS-9 from Axminster. It's not bad, but I've found a few issues with it. The supplied rip and mitre fences are the biggest problem, the rip fence still wobbles about when tightened, the ends of which are of thin aluminium which flexes when applying pressure. The mitre fence...

    Engineer's square advice

I bought a 300mm Silverline Engineer's square which seems to get decent reviews and it's suppose to be accurate. Price is very good too. "Precision engineers square with hardened steel blade. Manufactured to DIN875/1. Accurate both inside and outside edges."...

    Kitchen - Dining Table Questions

In architecture, a general rule of thumb for a cantilever is two thirds of the overall distance supported, with a third overhanging (if that makes sense?). Dunno if it's the same for woodworking though.
