    Push fit or speed fit collars work on 'reverse pressure' so the 10 bar pressure test , primarily checks for leakage ,but also seats the collars nicely by pushing them backwards

    I would use speed fit in an external building as the pipes are less likely to split with a good frost, also, you wouldn't run into the same problems as your having. As been said, you can use copper on speed fit too

    Cutting MDF

    Just an addendum on MDF finished edges, wood glue provides a reasonable finish to cut MDF . Sand , paint it on, then use fine grade sand paper (or wet and dry) to flatten ,paint again and sand (finer) finish. James

    Many thanks Dan, bit of a 'sticky wicket' if you like :) but just need a bit of reassurance on the method. I did plan on framing the opening ,then cutting door. After which, putting a frame around the rear of cut out and hanging. Hinge off the verical rail ? Jams
