    Cutting list for CNC

Grandson wants to know if I can produce a cutting list for a CNC project. Presumably this could only be in-put from an appropriate CAD programme? Am I right?

    Renting a garage

How much rent would you expect to pay for a double garage? I can get my basic working workshop stuff into my own garage but not enough space for all the other stuff I keep, such as stacks of wood etc, and I'm renting a container at the moment.

    Heavy hoe wanted.

I've got an azada with a wide blade but now need similar but narrower, to keep hacking through some rough ground full of roots, brambles etc. Nearest I've spotted is Silverline which looks OK but probably lightweight...

Replacing large lifting garage door with timber partition and normal door.

My garage has double width electric folding door but no normal door so I'm going to replace it with partition plus door, to make it into workshop. Sorry it's the sort of thing mentioned many times but I'm wondering about the details: planning a timber stud frame with CLS plus OSB covered with...

greenhouse, glasshouse, garden room, conservatory, crystal palace

Looking to build a glasshouse extension. Not a flimsy off the peg greenhouse, more architectural glasshouse than garden room perhaps, in so far there is any difference! Looking for leads, links, design details etc. Have ordered "Glasshouses" Fiona Grant for starters.

    endoscope recommendations

I want to have a look at the underfloor and other nooks and crannies. Any recommendations for an endoscope, attaching to smart phone or whatever? It's just the one job so cheap would be good. PS this looks OK perhaps https://www.toolstation.com/draper-wi-fi-endoscope/p44614

    helmet and face mask

Will be setting up my lathe again soon. What's most recommended face protection? Mind you this chap was probably spinning an obviously faulty piece of wood at too high a speed, perhaps just for the video:

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

What's the difference and which is best for workshop floor over existing concrete slab? What about just laying Polythene DPM with battens and chipboard on top?

Straightening a bent board with steam.

Repair shop interesting tonight https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08l581p episode 6 straightening old table top boards, amongst other stuff. I don't watch it often enough it's a very nice programme; high levels of craft skill often being applied to very ordinary objects. They get a bit maudlin...

    Roof insulation

Having our roof stripped and new tiles. They are talking about insulating quilt laid over the rafters i.e. all insulation applied from the outside instead of sarking etc. I know nothing about these quilts. Any opinions? Will I still need rigid insulation between rafters, which I'm used to doing...

    Down sizing question.

So we've managed our move from 3000 sq ft chapel conversion to very ordinary 800 sq ft small 60s house with shed. It's a bit like a holiday cottage; not quite how we would have set up the place ourselves but quite cosy, some things good, some not. But with the nightmarish extra dimension that...

    Quick shed build

Need a lean-to shed for garden stuff, timber storage and bikes. Main thing is to be quick and easy, and dry. Space limited 20ft long by 7ft wide, so thin walls - sheet material on studs. Flattish roof for more storage space. I guess this means board under plus tyvek etc to prevent condensation...

    Wood stove idea

Existing wood stove has long length uninsulated flue nearly up to ceiling, then insulated through room above and gives out loads of heat in both rooms. New house has normal masonry flue/chimney with gas fire, probably lined, probably was an open fire originally. Another wood stove proposed -...
