    Besseeey

They are pretty flimsy next to the K-bodies and I find them sometimes difficult to open, which doesn't happen at all with their big brothers. Tut tut tut [-X

    Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Hi Dave, SketchUp gets good write ups, is fairly easy to use and is available on both Mac Os X and Windows. You can download a time limited version from from www.sketchup.com. I've no association with the product (in fact I work of another CAD vendor myself  ) Dave R seems to be the...

    Popular Woodworking

Como was the winner of this round of the 'PWW' duplicate comp, although it sounds like there may be yet more spares floating around with other members. I'll bung it in the post tommorow. -Michael

    Popular Woodworking

I haven't received Novembers issue yet but my 'spare' copy arrived today, with the same post as the original  . If anyone wants it, PM your address. I liked the idea of using inline skate wheels to hold the work against the fence in the drill press article, quite neat. -Michael

Computer help - unblocking ports please

Hi Tim, If you are still stuggling to find out what is causing your problems. From a cmd prompt (Start/All Programs/Accessories) you could try doing: netstat -b This should print a list of active connections - if a program is listening on port 110 this will print the process id (PID) from...

    Levelling underlay

Hi Roger, I'm pretty sure it would be recommended that any wood floor laid over concete/screed has a vapour barrier. We have Kahrs linea wood construction stuff over screeded concrete and used their Tuplex stuff as an underlay. If you are going to put that stuff down for its levelling...

    Broadband Internet access

Hi John, You could do worse than looking at: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ Tiscali is, by all acounts, one to avoid. I've heard good things about both Zen & F2S but can't vouch for either. If you aren't a heavy user then you can perhaps save quite a bit with a capped service. -Michael...

    Foamboard

I think Roger might be referring to this FWW article which, unfortunately, is no longer free :( As I recall the author was using something which looked very like celotex as Jake suggested. You can get it from builders merchants.

underfloor electric heating and laminated flooring

We have maple Kahrs Linea (wood construction) flooring down in one room of our extension which has warm water UFH. It seems to be fine as a conductor and if there is much movement then I haven't noticed. I have no experience of electric UFH. -Michael

    virus NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

I was waiting until the next version of OS X came out before getting a Mac Mini - it comes out at the end of the month. The power books are just gorgeous but a bit out of my price range :( I have a Linksys router which connects to my cable modem - this has a built in firewall with NAT and no...

Need input! Idea for festool-based panel saw

Hi John, Like some others I'm a bit sceptical about the threaded rod approach, but it seems that the major part of your ideal solution is all about keeping consecutive cuts parallel. Having seen your setup with the sacrificial horizontal table, I would think that Steve's idea of the the...

Importing from the US - an example

I don't see how HMCE can get away with charging for this info as it is freely available from the eu. You could do worse than checking here: http://europa.eu.int/comm/taxation_customs/dds/cgi-bin/tarchap?Lang=EN The TARIC code for hand sharpening stones is 680430000 which at present seems to...
