    Bots.

I disabled tailored adds at one time and started getting adverts for milking machines and Cow insemination services. (I live in surbiton). I turned them back on.

    ChatGPT - artificial intelligence.

I couldn’t help but reply that the answer was wrong. That’s the force experienced by the car (caused by the wheels) not, as the question asked “we would feel…” (caused by the seat on your bum). The perils of poorly phrased ‘exam’ questions.

Rubio vs varnish (but which brand)...

So there seems to be a huge amount of love for Rubio Monocoat - at least from the USA. I've looked at prices in the past, and they seemed silly - I guess the importing was adding a great deal. Now there is a Rubio seller in the UK, I thought i should give it serious consideration. I'm in...

Going around ever decreasing spirals until disappearing up.........

Inkscape is a great free software package for creating SVG files. A bit of a steep learning curve, so I'd be happy to create a file if you like. I'd need some size information, in particular, what width of channel (or diameter of the marble) and the overall size

    Britain's Best Woodworker

Note to self. Must sell my wood rat (or give it away) - it’s been unused on the wall for 20 years :(

Domino Jointers Are they really worth it, or just a gimic

I have one of those. Amazing machine. However Origin was bought out by festools - Origin was a Kickstarter-type Of development by a couple of very talented developers in USA. (The motor of the origin is festools).

Maybe the executor who would have responsibility for the assets until such time as they are passed on. The executor probably has responsibility for allowing an asset of the estate to be used.

    Retirement options

There is an interesting book I used to help me plan my financials for retirement which was called “enough”. It was all about encouraging you to think about the lifestyle you wanted post retirement and it too talked about phases of retirement with different spend profiles. Also to use savings...

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

Yes. I use it on an dewali oscillating sander and also a hand held orbital sander. I used the power feed on the vac too so it automatically starts and stops. Most recently it was doing an apparently good job in a shaper router - until I got worried about the Spaulding.

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

I have had the park side shop vac (I think it’s the same one) and it’s been great. Had it for four years. I’ve a slight concern that the filters I’m using are not the best (I routed some spalted wood and noticed breathing issues that evening). So I completely recommend the shop vac. HOWEVER...

    Model ship build

The Tiller and belay pins This is formed from some pre-cut ply, which slots and glues together, before being clad with thin white strips of wood for the walls, and darker strips for the roof parts. This houses the tiller, which is connected down to the rudder. This is the point at which...

Next stage is very pretty. The bit at the back is going to be well glammed with some lazer cut brass fixtures. The kit includes a single sheet, which contains both a set of 4 windows, and also some outline, which represents gold painted wood. They all need to be carefully cut free though...

    Model ship build

The rudder is really tricky, as it is hinged using small lengths of bent brass, riding on pins. The hinges themselves are stuck to the ply, but pin heads are used to make it look like it look like the hinges are bolted. I’m now firmly in super glue land – clearly PVA won’t do this kind of work...

    Model ship build

Another week, another tube of superglue. Actually not, I found some really good micro nozzles on amazon, which even when left open, don't cause / allow the super glue to go hard. Anyway, the next stage is to start working on the finish of the top deck. The waterways are a line around where...

Onward to the rest of the planking. Above the dark veneer line is a further veneer that is painted blue. Apparently it really was like that. This wood is painted before it is mounted on the boat. That way you get a clean transition from the wood colour to the blue. And round the bow too...

    Model ship build

A little PVA glue in the gaps, and a little sanding, will make a nice surface, but I don’t want to over sand – its thin enough to start with. So I end up sanding spare (hopefully spare) sapelli veneer, and use that where I can. But the end result is nice. Then onto the other side. This is...

    Model ship build

Lons: thanks for the pointer - I have bought those from ebay, £2.99 with free PP. I'm sure they will come in handy, although I've got to find somewhere to put them. (At which point I may well find I had one already :).
