    Myford ml8 electric motor power

    Can anyone confirm the electric motor power for a ml8 lathe? I note that the lathe was originally supplied with a 0.75hp single phase 1425 rpm motor. I have bought a ml8, off Gumtree, and upon stripping down find it has a very old (1938???) Brook motor which the plate suggests it is 6.25hp...

    router cutter for " countersunk sausage" slots

    Hi guys Anybody remember seeing a router cutter that cuts a conventional countersink that can then be progressed sideways to cut a sausage slot (to compensate for seasonal movement in tabletops etc) ?? I thought I saw one in the Axminster catalogue once?

    Has anybody purchased an Axminster digital bevel box? ( You know the little cube device that has a magnetic base and looks just right for setting up the table saw to cut mitres at exactly 45°0') Any other suggestions, apart from trial and error, as to how to set the blade angle to achieve...

    Apologies if this topic has been aired before, but as you say. I'm a newbie (where did that expression come from?) and I need to know before spending serious money. How good are low angle/bevel up smoothing planes? Both LN and LV offer them. I seem to recall that the famous "Alf" rates them...
