    sellling wooden toys

I started selling toys at craft fairs, nothing too complicated, things like these... but after 1 craft fair I got disheartened as people started asking if I'd got them CE marked etc etc I look into it and it really wasn't worth pursuing so I changed direction and now make small furniture...

Real or April fools come early? Cordless TS55 :D

I shall be passing this wonderful offer for this overpriced lump of a tool. Where do they dream up their price structure? always seem to me to be up themselves charging the earth for powertools. move along

Other wise it won't be as think as you straight it is and you might finger your chop off. Nah, seriously, just in case any children are viewing this forum... It's not wise to drink and operate machinery... you might spill it when you fire the router up ha ha

Had a couple of orders recently and I thought I'd show you... Finished last night, a customer ordered this bench from oak... From an offcut I made this clock... Not sure if I have already shown this item or not... and while waiting for glue ups to cure and varnish/wax to dry...

    Bird nesting box plans

last year I got hold of a couple of pallets... made about 10 of these and put them on a table at the end of my drive, £5 each. They all sold within a weekend with passing motorists stopping to buy them, £50 donation to the local RSPB for a few hours work which I did inbetween glue ups of some...

    Space saver stairs

would it matter which side the tread boards are at? I notice on yours you've set them so when you climb the steps you lead with your left leg, I'm right handed and naturally would lead with my right leg?

    Shameful Dovetail practice

firstly to me that timber looks very difficult to work especially down it's grain, looks like it will just splinter off. Are you using a marking knife to score the cut lines first or just a pencil line? Are the chisels sharp? the end result looks good though! nice one. =D>

Reduce width of this piece of wood - possible??

It didnt alter the tone at all. Thickness of paint, types of wood etc altering the tone are myths in most cases. As these instruments are electric the pickups/amp have a lot of say in the tone. I did this with a hand plane for thicknessing the body and a router for the neck pocket depth.

Reduce width of this piece of wood - possible??

How about taking say 2mm off the back and say 3mm off the front? You'd need to reshape the edges and also take 3mm off the bottom of neck pockets and all cavities. I did this exercise a few months ago... turned this... into this... Reduced the thickness and weight so it was comfy

Any Electric Guitar Luthiers Here? I Want to Build a Tele

I've made a Telecaster from Ash and a Musicman Stingray style bass from Mahogany. The Tele is a simple guitar to make in terms of skill and tools required. I would always go for ash or alder but try to get the joint invisible and make sure when you spray the finish on you can see the grain...

box with small drawers - tulipwood

Made this last weekend. All cut from one lump of tulip wood (4" x 4" x 3' length) using the bandsaw. I tried to keep the grain matching but if you look at the top section, the left hand piece I managed to put in the wrong way round, it was late though. It has 5 drawers and a lid/compartment on...

    Workshop heating

Must just be me that has the roller shutter door fully open on a Saturday morning in January whilst working in the workshop then. I like the feel of fresh air in the workshop. Thick jumper, a woolly thinsulate hat and a pot of tea usually does the trick.
