    Wadkin PK restoration

And to the best of my knowledge he no longer does restorations. Having finally settled on the machines he wants, he has converted his workshop back to woodwork. He let his website go. If you're looking to date a Wadkin (no pun intended) go to the Canadian forum. Cheers, Vann.

    8 point sockets

I didn't know such sockets existed. I use 12 point sockets for square nuts (and hex nuts) - or spanners if I don't have 12 point sockets of the correct size. Cheers, Vann.

    Woodhaven2 heads up

Oh dear. An improved version you say? My experiences with "upgrades" is they make the experience worse. Fantastic new software improvements that decide that you are a fool and they will set out your post the way the programme thinks it should look... I walked away from the Canadian forum for...

    Record 044 without cutter clamp

Or a 040, which might be cheaper. Cheers, Vann.

A little truth for a change.

Good Lord Phil. Next you'll be claiming that Trump won the 2020 US election, or that Putin invaded Ukraine to protect the people of the Donbas!!

    Boiled Linseed Oil

I'm with Jacob, except with old very dry handles I apply once a day for a week; then once a week for a month, and then yearly (very approximately). It's best if you wipe off excess oil with a cloth after a couple of hours. As for gloves, I don't bother - and I'm sure my skin looks younger...

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

When you say all 3 phases are present, have you been able to check that, since you found this fault? The reason I ask is that I had a similar issue when one of the phases dropped out at my place. Turns out it was a blown pole fuse (I assume you have those in the UK) However, I don't have...

    Wadkin knife setting gauge

There was one listed on eBay just a couple of days ago. Have a look to see what it sells/sold for. Cheers, Vann.

Table Saw w/ability to take a dado stack.

A Wadkin PK dimension saw will take trenching heads - however the trenching heads and adaptor are as rare as hens teeth. And it's three phase, so no good to you. Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

Yes it's a design feature found on most Wadkin surface planers and thicknessers. I don't know if Wadkin-Bursgreen also have the feature. A friend has a 16" RZ (surface planer only version of this FM). His has a 4 knife safety cutterblock with straight knives (no skew), but as far a I know all...

    Wadkin RS330

Thanks Stan. Some interesting lathes you have there. Any Idea if they came from the Wadkin factory that way, or were they modified by some owner? The work looks professionally done. Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

Hi Scotty. Machine Test #66809 was carried out in 1962, so that's your manufacture date, as they tested them on completion. https://forum.canadianwoodworking.com/forum/tools/power-tools/vintage-power-tools/1162343-wadkin-by-test-number Cheers, Vann.

Nice restore. I use my 043 often. Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

Nice. I've not seen one of these in the flesh, but a friend has an RZ, which is the surface planer only version (no "under"). It's a beautiful machine. I think you'll find this even nicer the Bursgreen UOS. You are correct, the bolts are all British Standard Whitworth - hard to find these...

    Wadkin RS330

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the "test number" on the tag photo got clipped, but looks like 987... That would date the lathe to 1938. Wadkin made good robust gear. I'm sure that with some TLC, oil and grease (and maybe new bearings) it will be good for another 86 years. I hope it finds a...

    Wadkin RS330

Any chance of sending the photos anyway? Particularly one of the tag. I have an interest in all things Wadkin. Cheers, Vann.

New member overwlemed by a new 24BAO/S - 24" Thickness Planer

56 years old - almost definitely. First off the production line - not likely as it isn't a Green Lane machine, but remotely possible. Cheers, Vann.

New member overwlemed by a new 24BAO/S - 24" Thickness Planer

Re: the Machine Number 24BAO/S 67105 - the 24 appears to indicate its width and the BAO/S is the model number. The 67 is believed to be the year it was made, and the 105 is effectively the serial number. As a side note, Wadkin's Green Lane Works in Leicester mostly started any new model at...
