I have another query. I had a sapele wood staircase installed in my house. Builders (with little experience of wood I think) varnished it, possibly without cleaning it first, and there were ugly whitish smudges. They sanded the smudges off partially but the wood retains a patchy 'unwashed'...

I would like to be able to repair and make puzzle boxes. Have very little experience in woodworking so far. Can someone advise on evening classes or tuition in London? I live in South London nad work in East London so both areas are possible. With thanks, Peter
