Hi Mark, I bought some from Ironmongery Direct to replace all the 25 year old brass hinges in my parents house.
The finish and action of them just seemed rough/sloppy so they went back. Nothing like the Baldwin ones.

Bread board end joint in pictures. You can see how the middle peg is tight and the two end one are elongated to allow movement across the grain.

Grinding on the side of the wheel is bad news. Unless the wheel is designed for it, which very few are.

Last waney edge stuff I dealt with was that up and downy I do not think I'd want to use a track saw on it. I just strick a chalk line and eyeball it on the bandsaw.

For what it cost me, I wouldn't bother making my own. Only thing wrong with it is that I always want something out of a drawer or cupboard that is blocked by something in the vice.
