    Table saw blade kerf

Have done some research on the +/- rake on blades, found it very interesting and learnt a lot thanks again. One thing i noticed though is how many companies out there are selling 15degree positive rake as good for mitre saw, after reading about it i dont know how they can get away with it!

    Table saw blade kerf

Thanks again Doug your advice is much appreciated, i had not heard of +/- hook on blades before so its good to know, i also have not seen this described in the sales blurb when looking to purchase a blade so will do some more research. Thanks again.

    Table saw blade kerf

On a side note can anyone see a problem with me using the 250mm 2.1kerf 40T blade on my mitre saw instead? The saw has the same bore but requires a 254mm blade, would this be ok to use in anyones opinion?

    Table saw blade kerf

Hi, I have just got myself a new blade for my Dewalt DW 745 and it is a thin kerf 2.1mm The supplied riving knife is 2.3mm Is this safe to use? I can see that it will be very close but is this within tolerances? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

Thanks that sounds interesting i thought the only reason for the front fence was just to hold the sled toghether, would be interested in a link to the video if you get the time please.

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

Interesting i have looked at that they also make a larger one though quite expensive, although they do not show whether the riving knife is fitted! which would have helped me make a decision, the sled i am making is of a very similar design.

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

Thanks David, i have considered something along those lines but it still would requrire removing the knife unfortunaetly, so still on the drawing board either make or find a new knife or remove it! still not made a decision.

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

Thanks that is my thought on it too, therefore i am thinking that it would not apply on a crosscut sled as the sled is held together by the fences and cross cuts are held against the front fence so can not get trapped or bind on the blade. what do you think?

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

Thanks Mike i agree i also cut dados with the router table, i am trying to find a way of using the table saw with a crosscut sled and the riving knife is too high, not comfortable with removing it myself so am on the hunt for a smaller one.
