    Tormex

I suppose it's all down to the type of work you do. For me it's mainly plane irons and chisels. I mainly use a diamond stone and/or 3m paper on float glass for refreshing an edge. But after a few refreshes it's quicker to get a new edge with the Tormek. Also good for taking out any small dings...

    Tormex

The most important function of the water is to keep the wheel clean while in use. It carries away grinding wheel dust and metal particles. It also lubricates and cools as others have said. I find it very easy to remove the tank and clean it out after every sharpening session.

    Small 12v drill/drivers

The Bosch flexclic is superb. There are two versions, the more common with a 15nm drill, and a version with a 35nm drill. I have had both, my current one is the latter and the extra torque is very welcome. I use it mainly for kitchen fitting and other cabinet type work, and use the right angle...

Using an impact Driver for Screwing?

Only if you want to annoy everyone else working near you with the terrible noise they produce! I nearly always use a cordless drill, chosing which one based on the size of the screws (therefore the torque required). I have a 35nm 12volt, and 18 volt 65nm drill and 110nm drill drivers. I do...

Festool saw with 3rd party track

I've heard there can be an issue when trying to join a Festool rail to a Makita one. Whilst they are compatible, the Makita one was very slightly different, so the saw caught on the join. Not an issue if sticking to track from one brand or you don't intend to join tracks.

JessEm Rout-R-Lift Prestige (metric) with a Bosch Router

Does anyone know if a Bosch GOF 2000 CE will fix to the pre drilled holes in a JessEm Rout-R-Lift Prestige? This router isn't listed as compatible, but then all the Bosch routers listed seem to be USA models, some of which have European equivalent models. Hoping that the bases may be the same...

    Sander and dust extractor

I've recently replaced my Bosch GAS 25 that's been going strong since 2007, and is still working but a bit battered, with a Bosch GAS 35L. Very impressive, quieter, better suction and the reverse flow filter cleaning is very good. When deciding which to buy I compared the M and L class, (and...

    Another domino thread

No, I'm Alex. Use this name on forums as it was my nickname as an apprentice years ago, because I mainly ate a lot of pasties in those days! 🫣😬

That's probably the difference. I used biscuits before for board joining, so no lengthways alignment at all. And for doors and face frames etc I used traditional mortice and tenon joints. So the domino works well replacing both these methods.

Adding to that, if I did a lot of sheet material work or lighter work I would probably consider a 500 in addition to the 700, but can't justify it as I don't do a lot of that kind of work.

    Another domino thread

I only have a 700, as I wanted the ability to use it for larger joinery and joining solid wood (which is it's main use), as well as sheet goods. So I bought the Seneca plate and adaptor to use the smaller cutters. Yes, it's a heavy machine, but the plate and smaller cutters do work well and I...

    Which Axminster Evolution chuck?

Thank you very much for your reply, I was also leaning in that direction. I asked the same question in the Axminster forum, and someone advised the opposite, suggesting the additional weight of the 114 would put extra strain on the relatively small 750w motor and bearings. Now no less unsure. 😬

    Which Axminster Evolution chuck?

I’ve recently bought a AXMINSTER PROFESSIONAL AP350WL Lathe, and am having difficulty deciding between an Axminster Evolution SK114 and the new Axminster Evolution SK100. They seem identical except for size (and therefore weight), one being 114mm diameter and the other 100mm. Has anyone got...
