Best 165mm blade for fine woodworking?

Can anyone, with experience of using it, recommend a decent 165mm circular saw blade for fine joinery? Will be used on hardwoods and sheet material for ripping and cross-cutting. Quality results are obviously more important than speed of cut. I’m using a cordless Makita. Many thanks

Surely a huge gap in the market?

Thank you all for your responses so far. There seems to be a large amount of scepticism about being able to produce such machines as I describe for a cost that would be reasonable, and whether there would be a large enough market for them anyway. I agree with Terry (above) that Proxxon have...

Surely a huge gap in the market?

Dear All, Am I the only one looking for some quality small machines for working in a limited space. I want them to be well made, be under 15kgs so they can be lifted easily onto a worksurface when required, and have dust extraction that attaches to a vaccum cleaner such as Henry. They need to...

    Workshop Build - 5m x 3m

I used WBP plywood for extra piece of mind. Again all edges need to be supported. Seems a shame to have laid that much concrete and ended up with a suspended (I.e. springy) floor.

Update…… Following suggestions and advice from this thread I fitted 50mm Celotex to the ceiling, 10mm XPS foam to the walls, and foam garage mats on the floor. It has made a huge difference. I have an 800w oil filled radiator that can heat it to a decent temperature (albeit slowly) which I use...

That’s certainly a novel idea, but I don’t have the space.

You must have a very well insulated workshop. Glad to hear that it’s an effective way to keep rust at bay. Thank you.

    Heating question

Thank you, size is as much of a consideration as cost. It seems crazy having two heaters in a 6’x8’ workshop but I think that is the best option.

    That is beautiful

    Heating question

I have a small 6’x8’ workshop (shed) that is mostly insulated. I would like to store tools without rust being an issue. I think that maintaining a minimum temperature of 7-10 degrees would help with this. I don’t think a little tubular heater would be quite powerful enough do you? I am...

Thank you. The clue is under the bandsaw! A good thing about a small workshop is that it is very easy to keep tidy and clean up afterwards. The Henry attaches to the bandsaw, and potentially to power tools as well, and the hose reaches anywhere in the workshop without having to move. I empty...

Thank you again. I have taken your advice and ordered from your link. I am also going to get some foam floor tiles to insulate the floor. I'll let you know how much difference it all makes.

I’m no expert, hence I’m the one asking for advice! But, if I had a larger shed then I would definitely use standard PIR board (as thick as possible) and board over it. The only reason I am considering something else is because Celotex/Kingspan etc only come in a minimum thickness of 20-25mm...

Thank you for your reply and advice, and cost saving. I’m wondering the best way to attach to the OSB - noticed that the website you suggest do a kit with double sided tape, maybe that would work okay. I’m presuming that if there is basically no air between the insulation and the board...

Would really appreciate some advice, especially if you have had experience with this sort of issue. I have a very small workshop (less than 6’ x 8’). It’s attached to garden studio and is constructed of 3”x2” timber stud work and OSB sheets, it’s battened and clad on the outside with cedar and...

Just another box, but it’s my first one.

Sorry no pics of the process. I have attached a couple of photos of my 8’x6’ workshop/shed. You can see the box. I usually have saws and things hanging on the wall in front of the workbench, and marking tools on the shelf. I’ve removed nearly all my tools here because I was going away for a...

Nice idea but the lid only overhangs a few mm’s so it would effect the fitting of the lid.

Yes the lighter wood is incredibly hard, and very difficult to plane. If it was easier I would have planed 2-3mm off the lid. I did loose a little chunk off the corner which was annoying.
