A little truth for a change.

The argument about weather we are in a cooler period compared to history (Millions of years not hundreds) will forever go on, it will always cost more money. If people wanted to half the omissions and consumption because lets be honest, can this planet really sustain the plague of humans the way...

    Severance negotiations

They don't have have a choice, they have not given him enough time for legal representation and they have made it official by including HR.

    Severance negotiations

All good advice given, but I would suggest that you take a video recorder and as soon as you walk in say to them "As HR are in volved you won't mind me recording this will you"? but start the video outside the door before you walk in.

Prepping a soot-stained wall prior to repainting

I have just done mine, plasterboard covered it all up and I wanted a log burner in, what worked in mine was hot water and a really strong engine degreaser, I painted it with a stone effect paint and after a couple of months it's fine.

    How much would you charge?

I work fort a kitchen company and I have seen some of the prices for little jobs like this being charged at over a thousand pounds, we look at each other in the office and the normal comment is "You f.ing sure, how did they get away with that"? Material cost is about approx £80 if the doors are...

    B**** computer printers RANT

I had a HP with the pay monthly ink, it nearly doubled in price and because of the amount I was using it, it was costing quite a lot of money to run, when I cancelled it they wanted me to send the ink back, they only ever sent me one replacement in about three years and I was out of ink for...

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

It's all well and good saying pay more tax but we wouldn't need to pay more tax if so much money was not wasted in the first place. The first thing that comes to my mind when Blair's name comes up is not how good they were but the guy who started an illegal war and walked out of office when he...

Not happy - Tin pot council officers who can issue fines.

Councils are power crazy, I tried to have a longer drop kirb put in as the parking down my road is getting dangerous, they marked out an extra 3 feet of drop kirb on a 4 car width drive and the quote was £1800 and then told me if I put my car in the drive without one I would be fined for driving...

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

For the time scale they get the project are not that bad, yes the M&T are very dubious and one of the quotes I heard last night was "First time I've used a chisel" whether he was just saying that, hope so. As to "Britain's best wood worker" it is very much best of that bunch. The one bit that...

    Speed Awareness Course

I don't think that is completely true now days with these tweaked electric push bikes, I regularly see and follow push bikes and scooters that are keeping up with me doing the speed limit on the way to and from work, no crash helmet or number plates. I was sitting behind one of those scooters...

    Worktop - oak

Although I'm not keen on the colour it produces, when it comes to wood worktops we always use Danish oil, minimum of 3 coats top and bottom, that seems to seal it well and then replenish every six months.

    Handmade end panels

Most end panels in our kitchens come from the same material as the doors, that could be painted wood or MFC, we normally cut those with the doors or if they are solid wood we just order a matching panel from the same supplier. Really depends what look you are going for, last week we supplied...
