Any experience of wood splinter gone into your finger? - How did you get it out?

Mag sulphate always worked for me. My grandma used it on us when we were kids back in the 50's

    Long Clamp Advice

Previous post. I had similar problem assembling a dresser- sash cramps too short. To overcome this I used lengths of 12mm threaded rod with wooden battens and it solved the problem at a low cost.

    Stained glass panels

You need a hacking knife which has a thick blade which can be hit with hammer. Old putty should be ok to break out; it has worked for me over the years. The more likely damage is likely to be old lead joints on the glass if you bend or flex the pane. Re soldering bad joints not too difficult...

    Bowl turning

I want to colour a series of 10 mm boards [various colours], then glue up to make a blank suitable for turning a bowl. The effect should be something out of the ordinary. Anyone tried tbis? Problem I see is getting the dye/clour to penetrate each board. Any ideas?

    Blizzard toy 4” wheels

I've made four Mac trucks, the fire engine and the fork lift from the Blizzard book. Rather than buy wheels, I turned them on lathe which allowed me to make them more authentic.

Hock Blades for Stanley no.4 and no.6

I bought a Hock blade for my Bailey no. 6 and couldn't get it to fit even after adjusting frog etc. It was the same problem with a Veritas blade. Ended up making a wooden jointer and fitted blade to it. I now swop blade from my 4 1/2 when I need to use the 6.

    Arcoy

Recently bought Arcoy dovetail jig with a box of additional parts ( housing joint attachment plus parts I have no clue to their use). My original was stolen back in the early 70's so hard to remember now. Have instructions for set up but would appreciate any help from a user. Leaflets are ok but...

Fitting Lie Neilsen blade to my Record No.5

Similar experience. Bought Veritas and a Hock for my Bailey no. 6- can't fit. The blade and chip breaker are so much thicker which I think is the problem. Can't get a Stanley blade so resorted to swapping blade from my 4 1/2 when I need to use it.
