I’ve made some toadstools from the branch of a fallen tree. There are already several splits in the wood and they’re going to live outside. What finishes do you recommend to prevent the cracks getting worse?
Ideally want something fairly natural looking. Not too shiny.
I made some candle holders from some oak firewood and it wasn’t until I added some finish that I noticed the medullary rays.
tbh I’d never heard of them before googling and had assumed they were saw marks until the finish really made them pop.
