Circular saw base, steel or aluminium

I am buying an evolution circular saw and the two models I can afford are very similar except the base on one is steel and on the other aluminium, is there any advantage other than weight? I will be fitting new internal doors so will use the saw for trimming the doors. The two saws are...

The language is mutating (and always has done)

Going back to English language changing for the worse is past tense words no longer used by people who should know better. E.G I bought a loaf of bread yesterday. Is now I did buy a loaf of bread…., said has become did say……walked has become did walk. The BBC presenters are the worse culprits...

    Made or Built

My Bosch table saw is made in Taiwan, my Bosch jig saw I inherited from my Dad is made in Switzerland, must be a least 40 years old. This is reflected in the build quality. Every Chinese made machine that I own has needed fettling, we should all know by now that “you only get what you pay for” 🙁

So, isn't it about time the rights of a consumer were upgraded in law?

A lot of German manufacturing companies are family owned, they invest, plan and think long term unlike in the UK where the shareholders dividend is the top priority :)

    Stand on castors, heavy kit?

For £65 you could buy castors and some thick plywood and make a moveable base. This would also be an exact size for your kit.

    Damp course question

IanB If and when you turn this wood, spend a tenner and buy a Perspex face shield. Good luck and post pictures of the results.
