    Vice for Fobco Star

Thanks for the link - I've been looking at that particular clamp. I may need to readjust what I think I need (please assume that I have no knowledge about this subject). In my head, I'm thinking I need to have a clamp that has the fixing holes/slots that are the same width as the slots on the...

    Vice for Fobco Star

It was the latter, I was assuming you must be able to get a vice that has fixing slots that line up with the slots on the table..?

    Vice for Fobco Star

I hadn't really considered a separate vice for wood... I guess iI was thinking just a general-purpose vice that fits the Foboc's table - I can always degrease it if I'm working on wood after metal... I'll take a look at the Soba's

Fobco Star Bench Drill - Head Assembly Clamp

Thanks for the replies, I'm not so concerned about it slipping, it's slightly rusted/stuck on at the moment and it took a few taps just to get it straight to the base. I'll file it under the things to ignore for the moment. One more question whilst I've got your attention, how is the small...

Fobco Star Bench Drill - Head Assembly Clamp

Hi all, I've just landed upon a Fobco Star and have a question about the head assembly clamp, or perhaps the lack of it... I have a clamping lever that is part of the main head assembly casing, but I've seen pictures of other Fobo Stars and they have a separate split clamp that sits underneath...

    Bench Drill Advice

It looks like the gods have smiled upon me - I've just put a very cheeky offer in (£160) on a Fobco Star that looks to be in as near mint condition as you can get for something that has been stripped down and refurbished - They have only gone and accepted it! I'm picking her up next Saturday!

    Bench Drill Advice

From the advice so far, I think I'm best off waiting for a Fobco/Meddings/Atlas/Union to appear. Let the hunt begin!

    Bench Drill Advice

Yeah, it's a bit of a minefield working out what is what - The one I'm looking at was manufactured in 2004 so I was hoping that it was one of their more robust efforts - On paper it looks great, 16 speed, 16mm chuck, MT2 Taper but it's all for nothing it's got runout issues, the table flexes...

    Bench Drill Advice

Thanks for the replies both. I actually just missed out on a Fobco Star that was being sold locally for £150 by calling about 20 minutes too late :( There is one of these available not too far away from me - Clarke CPD301B I think it's one of the ones they stopped making 18-20 years ago, any...

    Bench Drill Advice

Hi all, Hopefully, some of you lovely people can help steer me in the right direction. I've currently got one of the old, blue Record bench morticers that has served me well over the last few years for my woodwork drilling needs (I'm only a hobbyist and I only ever used it as a drill) - It's...
