    Box joint jig

I have seen many 'YouTube' examples of how to make a box joint jig. Most far to elaborate for the space I have, but I found an easy sample and made one. This is my result from a first ever box joint jig. It isn't pretty but I was pleasantly surprised with the result. I have since made a jig...

    Table Saw Sled

I have watched many You Tube ideas regarding sleds. My problem is my Bestcombi 2000 only has one guide channel which if I made a sled how do I keep it running even. I suppose I could make use of the fence to compensate for not having a second channel. Any ideas please. The other discussion I...

    Wood identification.

I intend to set myself a target next year to identify as many different woods as I can. Right now a lot of timber looks the same to me. What's hard wood and what's softwood. Lot's of the grain structure is very similar, unless of course I do have a garage full of the same stuff!!

    Garden Trug

I'm one of those woodworkers who have a decent set of tools but lack patience in using them. I use wood from pallets or bits I retrieve when visiting the local waste disposal site. In this case a neighbour gave me the wooden contents of a bed from which I made a garden trug. I chaffered the...

    Bestcombi2000

With two broken feeder roller belts I am concerned of replacing yet again and maybe have the same problem. So I have decide to strip the machine to a point where I can see all the moving parts concerned with the thicknesser/planer and try to see if I can see the problem. I noticed on the...

    Bar stool

I made six of these when my daughter decided to hold a 60's night. The theme was an American diner. These bar stools were part of a whole set I made including the bar and booth area. The wood came from various scraps I had including door stiles and rails, pallets etc, nothing of any quality...

    Bestcombi2000 problem

I have had this machine for twenty years and never had a problem with it. Although I very seldom use the thicknesser/planer I did last week and after a short while the timber would not feed into the machine. I checked and found the drive belt to the feed roller had broken. Thinking no more of...

    Bestcombi 2000

It seems a bit cheeky after just joining UKW that I need a little help. The thicknesser/planer is not feeding the wood through. The cutter spindle turns but not the ribbed spindle. Also there is a lever that I'm not sure what it is supposed to do. There is no difference whether the lever is up...

    Hello Everyone,

I have just joined UKW and very pleased with what I have seen so far. I am retired now after 40 years as a professional photographer. My workshop is small but I do have a good selection of manual and power tools. I work mainly with scrap wood (pine). I'm not the best I can be but I try. I'm...
