Drill and pick was the conclusion I was coming to but hadn't thought of @dickm's suggestion of heat treatment. As they say, I won't try the heat/freeze but I'm sure a bit of judicious heat won't go amiss. Stay tuned :) BTW, tried the new bolt in place and it looks fab!
