Question about DeWalt random orbit sander (DCW210)

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. When I removed the original pad that's been on the sander since it was first bought, there weren't any washers on any of the screws. I'll contact DeWalt UK, that's a good idea, thanks!

Question about DeWalt random orbit sander (DCW210)

Hi everyone, I'm a member of a local men's shed and we have two DeWalt DCW210 random orbit sanders (cordless, 18V). One of them is a couple of years old and needed a new hook and loop pad, so I bought a genuine OEM pad (via ebay) from FiXiT Power Tools (who are based in Colwyn Bay). After one...

    Lumberjack Filter cartridge

Probably worth sending an email to Lumberjack customer services address to explain the situation and ask if they sell them, or where they suggest their customers buy this part from.

    Thickness planer

I looked at the spec and it was listed as 1100 x 380 x 415mm, but even so, that’s not as big as I’d originally thought so will keep mulling it over. I’m looking for something that I can use outside in the garden and put away in a garden storage box when not in use, so this might actually work...

    Thickness planer

Ah ok, thanks for explaining and showing an alternative machine, it’s really helpful. Unfortunately I don’t have space for something that big so will have a re-think.

    Thickness planer

Did you watch the Charnwood video that’s on the page that I posted the link to? The reason I ask is because their demo machine seems to be full of chips, as well as dust. I’d like to buy a Charnwood benchtop P/T later this year (for occasional hobby use) and was hoping that this dust extractor...

    Thickness planer

For a dust extractor, would this be suitable to use with a benchtop P/T? Price is £120 with free delivery: https://www.kendaltools.co.uk/product/charnwood-dc50-fine-filter-dust-extractor/

What is the correct chisel to use for opening metal paint tins?

Looks good but the minimum order quantity is 5, which puts the price up to over £10!

    Sad news

Oh man, very sad news indeed  Would anyone happen to know if there's a way of getting more detailed information about what he was turning and possible reasons why it came apart? I'm not into wood turning, but I know others who are. Just wondering if there are any new lessons which the...

    planer thicknesser

Unfortunately Screwfix don’t seem to sell this one anymore. I quite like Erbauer stuff and I saw Peter Millard’s review of their p/t on YouTube.

    planer thicknesser

The Clarke p/t is available in three different widths, but the Titan only comes in one size (204mm). The Titan machine has a 1500W motor. The Clarke 204mm machine is 1250W so I was wondering if that might make it a bit quieter than the Titan? Probably not much difference though, despite the...

    Head torch recommendations?

In relation to Petzl headtorches, has anyone else had problems with the head band not lasting very long i.e. losing it's elasticity, too loose and no more room left for tightening it up?

Thanks for sharing this link. As it's a .com website address, does that mean it's from an American website?

    planer thicknesser

There’s quite a few video reviews of the Titan Planer Thicknesser on YouTube, which you might find helpful. I’d like to get one of the Clarke ones from Machine Mart (for occasional hobby use), but I can’t afford one at the moment.

So, do most of you use sketch up for your designs?

Is SketchUp Make a different version to SketchUp Free? From your screenshot, I'm not sure what you'd be agreeing to, unless it's referring to the statement about SketchUp Make being potentially vulnerable to security issues, because it hasn't been updated since 2017? I'm just guessing though...

    Head torch recommendations?

For working outside on an evening I use one of these headtorches, from Amazon. Battery pack is at the back of your head. Charges via a usb cable. For working in tight corners though, it can be a bit bulky and I sometimes bump it against things. It’s great for general work though, I really like...

Advice for budget garden woodworking shop?

With you being 6’4” tall, self-build might be the best way forward for you, as already suggested. Once you’ve got the basic shell done, you can do things like adding electrics and insulation as and when you’ve got the money to do so.

    Building a Workshop

Lots of things are possible in a small workshop, but it's very much a case of trial and error i.e. start using your workshop space and over time it'll evolve as you find out which things work well in the space that you have and which things don't. Don't buy loads of tools and machinery at the...
