Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

That copier sounds impressive if it works. Would love to see what it looks like and how it works. Having never used a router before, I'll ensure I wear protection!

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

Thank you - pleased to hear good things about this model. I understand your concern about larger bits, as it's only a small trimmer, so I'll bear that in mind and I don't have any immediate need to use bits above 1/4" at the moment. However, Makita say (and on the Fastfix page for it) "accepts...

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

UPDATE The Bosch 1/4" bit set has arrived and they seem to fit perfectly into the collet that came with the router, as far as I can tell!

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

Thanks, that's good to know - much better prices than most places I've seen for spiral bits. I've seen a lot of similar advice about buying kits, so just went for this fairly small kit that I hope is reasonable quality, as I know I want to use chamfer, flush trim, round over, straight and...

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

Interesting thanks. Your manual is different to mine. Mine makes no mention of 3/8" being an option at all, but as it happens the guy I spoke to at Makita seemed to think this router does accept a 3/8" collet. All very confusing and he had to call me back after double-checking everything he told...

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

I rang Makita and spoke to a helpful guy, so I maybe a step closer to solving the mystery... Makita confirmed the information on this link that states "Comes with 6 and 8 mm collets" is INCORRECT and they will look into amending the page...

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

Thank you both for your replies. I agree that the Fastfix website only talks about collet capacity. But it is the Makita UK website that states this router "Comes with 6 and 8 mm collets", so I assumed that would be the case regardless of where I bought it in the UK...

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

I just bought this Makita RT0702CX2 trim router kit from Fastfix: https://www.fastfix.co.uk/makita-rt0702cx2-router-trimmer.html The Makita UK website states the router comes with 6mm and 8mm collets, but I only appear to have the 6mm collet included. Questions: 1. Can anyone confirm which...

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

I do think the Evolution saws are a good deal, as they seem to get excellent reviews and very reasonably priced. It sounds like getting those additional blades is the way to go as well. 🤔 Thanks good to know. Good to see some positive feedback on the Erbauer. I think the Bosch is only a few...

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

Definitely learnt my lesson in the past on the "buy cheap buy twice" situation! One day I hope to build (or have built for me) a dedicated workshop, where I would definitely make a permanent saw bench, but until then I'll have to make do with a stand that can be put away.

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

I agree Bosch obviously the better brand (although my first two Bosch Professional tools purchased in recent years both developed faults within hours of first use!), but Erbauer seem to be building good reputation, so thought it might be worth it for the extra features. Quite keen on the...

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

Thank you. I notice the Evolution saws are extremely popular and you seem to get a lot for your money with them, from what I can see. My only concern was the 'slow' RPM that is required for metal cutting, as I understand some people complain it's not ideal for quality wood cuts. Not sure if it's...

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

Yes thank you - saw the Lidl offer, which does appear to be an incredible deal for that price. Not sure how important the brand of stand is and whether a higher price one offers much over the Lidl one? I'm don't want to spend more than £400 total (saw and stand), but happy to spend up to that...

Mitre Saw - Erbauer or Bosch?

Hi everyone I would appreciate thoughts on which of these two you would buy (along with their respective stands) and why: Erbauer EMIS254S https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-emis254s-254mm-electric-double-bevel-sliding-mitre-saw-220-240v/244fv Bosch GCM 8 SJL...

New 'budget' mitre saw recommendation - Erbauer/Bosch/other?

Hi everyone Just joined the forum as it seems to have very knowledgeable contributors. Looking for some advice on a mitre saw to purchase please. I’m a DIYer that recently moved into a new house, where there are lots of jobs that need doing, but I have also taken an interest in woodworking and...
