Flat pack metal shed - laying a base?

I have a 8 x 6 metal shed for extra storage for my mobile home. I bought some flat concrete pavers (600mm x 600mm) as a base and just bolted the shed to them, using the angle brackets supplied and dyna bolts / loxins drilled into the slabs. Had some very high winds, but no movement in the shed...

    Current overload

Make sure the appliance is unplugged, before looking inside, I may be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but better to be safe than sorry. Also, if you can give a sequence of events, that happened when the fault occured, that will help the troubleshooting. Pardon my complete ignorance, but...

    Current overload

I'm guessing that sounds like the windings in the motor short circuited, or could be the capacitor. My first thoughts would be to pull the motor out and check the windings resistance with a multi meter. Also, look for any burn marks around the motor, or see if any smoke escaped. Check the wiring...

Sold Packet of multi tool blades

I said "head is not detachable" :) As can be seen in the attached photos, the head opens up 2 - 3mm, using the lever, to allow the blades to be inserted. The caveat being that the blade connection must be slotted, rather than solid. The tool came with no spanner, although the head appears to...

Motor Flange For a Bench Sander

The motor is 0.37KW, 4 pole, 1400 RPM. I had a choice of this model. or a 2 pole (2800 RPM). Would 1400 RPM be too fast for this application, I admit that I'm quite new to all this. Regards, Dan

Motor Flange For a Bench Sander

Hello, I'm looking to make a bench sander. I have an electric motor with a 14mm shaft. The sanding disk is 300mm diameter. Would anyone be interested in a paid commission to turn a motor flange plate for me please? I'm thinking that I would need a flange of 50mm diameter x 4 - 6 mm thickness...

Yes, I'm currently running the 2017 Make version of Sketchup (30 Day trial) I don't know what features the program will have after the trial period ends. I also tried the the new Pro trial, just some of the features were "nice to have", but I still have to weigh up if I really need those...

Free 3D CAD software for hobbyist woodworkers

Hello, I have used Fusion 360, Sketchup and the open-source FreeCad. I found Fusion and Sketchup easy to use, but was disappointed when Fusion introduced their 10 file limit for personal use and still trying to save up for the 240 Euros / year for Sketchup (keep spending the money on new...

Help with building a bench sander please

Hello, I'm looking to make a bench sander. I have an electric motor with a 14mm shaft. I just need to find a decent sized flange plate to fit it, so I can attach my sanding disk. I bought a flange plate online, but it so small, I have visions of being decapitated by the sanding disc when I...

    Cad Spoken Here

Hi All, I've seen a lot on the forums about the ongoing debate regarding CAD programs. I have worked with Fusion 360, Sketchup and FreeCAD for my own interest and have gained some basic knowledge in the use of these. I would be happy to share this experience with you in a one on one using...

    Riving Knife (Aluminium or Steel)

Ok, duly noted. I won’t be using push blocks and I will leave the riving knife alone, no modifications. Thanks everyone for your comments and valuable input. Thanks, Dan

    Riving Knife (Aluminium or Steel)

Thanks everyone for your replies. I don’t really want restart any push block wars here, that has probably caused heated debates many times in the past :). I think that neophyte’s answer might be right answer for me, at least in getting the right thickness and material. Cheers, Dan
