table saws and plunge saw (with guide rails tracks) advice/recommendations...

For which plunge saws are 'worth' having it depends on how deep your pocket is 😉. Many use Festool... I'm not a pro and can't afford such so settled on one of the Erbauer plunge saws from my local Screwfix. Comes with 2 700mm tracks and decent clamps. I also added 2 of the Evolution 1400...

Woodworking & craft shows and events…

Haven't seen a mention here of this at Yandles: Saturday 20th April, 10-4... in an email recently received from them. https://www.yandles.co.uk/event/191-spring-crafts-market?goal=0_7ec16ec1b8-7d971ad591-163744418&mc_cid=7d971ad591&mc_eid=4e35edd68f

If using it 'upside-down' then you'd have to decide if you have enough feed for stability on the length of timbers being planed. I'm intending to make a unit to fit it into for when using in such a position - extending the infeed and outfield ends. I've seen such units for the more usual sized...

Silly me... the manual text and directions are a bit on the small side for my old eyes. Have to get the magnifying glass out to have another look 👍 Didn't get that far for adding the fence...

Instead of using the wing nuts attached to it? Did wonder if it was that simple - to dress it up on that side 😉

@Phil Pascoe At least it starts off 'slow and low' before it reaches top crescendo 😎😉. Yet to work out where the little knows (in the little envelope, in the box with the dust adapter) are used...🤔

Surely a huge gap in the market?

@Joe1975 Buy a Triton TPL180 (on offer at 50% off at Yandles) and utilise it for a jointer/surface planer. 7"/180mm width. That's 1 covered. 9kg in weight... Make a unit to house it, add a sprung safety 'cover' and you're good to go at £149:99. I posted a thread with the link for it a few days...

Limited number, 50% Off, Newly Upgraded, 2024 Triton triple blade Planer TPL180, 180mm.

@chemist_dan Unpacked yesterday. Checked over. It's 'heavy' and solid looking. Soft start. Noisy - to be expected. Not yet used but capable - handled correctly and not forced. Set up as @fleyh has is an alternative way to use - or even make a unit to hold it. £149.98 is better than £299.99...

    Royal Mail tracker...

I had a similar issue with a parcel sent to me. Arrived at Bristol MC OK. I attempted to chase it - that's a laugh using the contact link... Visited my local sorting office, left a print out of the tracking page and asked if they could contact Bristol MC - internal communications I thought...

Mine arrived yesterday... yet to unpack. They say 'Express delivery'. Ordered 24th, collected by FedEx late 25th and received 27th. I could have collected it quicker had I known express wasn't like *next day*! 🤔🤣

👍. Interesting setup. I already have the Triton TP125 thicknesser - works well for my needs. When I got the email from Yandles for this at the offer price I was thinking to set up as a surface plane to help with edge planning - depending on the fence. I'd seen mention of that 'accessory' not...

That put me off to start with. However, they are from a number of years ago... 5~6+? *This is advertised as an updated model*... faster motor etc. One would hope they'd resolved the problem of the base plates from when the earlier model, the reviews are on, came out. 3 year warranty... half...

Just a heads up: 50% off, less than 40 units available of this Planer. Read previous reviews/comments in an older post but just giving a heads up. £149.99 instead of £299.99... Newly updated model for 2024...

    Banggood, VAT, import duties

@Paddy Roxburgh "Hooked On Wood" (YouTube channel/videos & Web site - just Google hooked on wood) does some good and honest reviews of Chinese goods - this router plane included if I remember correctly. He's done a number of reviews on goods from this company - Hongdui. If buying - considering...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

Good blades have always been the thing to aim for. More teeth, better the cut finish. I'm not sure about the anti kickback on this Erbauer plunge saw yet... It's only over the past 3~4 years I've become aware of "plunge saws" or "tracksaws"... with acquainting myself with woodworking videos...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

Yes... all that was covered in the replies I got when I made my post for 'guidance/assistance' to help me in the direction I took - if I did buy one or the other 🙂. The R185CCSX wouldn't do for "fine" woodworking. Being 'multipurpose' saw blade did have some appeal. The Erbauer has shown to be...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

🤔... you seem to have made some assumptions about 'me' and the *suggestion* I put forward to the OP... At 72, 73 next month, I don't have the £300~£400 + to spend on a tool *I* will not be using in a business - but in a Hobby/DIYer use. Also... if just starting with a *power* tool - as I...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

Some time last year I posted for others advice for getting the Evolution circular saw with track bundle - because of price - OR a plunge saw... I was going to have to cur down a number of ply sheets. Received plenty of advice and went back to re-watch those YouTube videos from @petermillard ...
