The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Let’s just say I got lucky the night I gave it.

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

I can’t believe this thread is still running, I just wanted to make a gift for my brazillian girl 😂 On that note, I’ve only gone and done it.

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Okay so does that mean the starting piece can’t be too much more than it needs to finish at, length wise?

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Okay so, I experimented today with some scrap, was a bit thicker than my actual piece would be and was very straightforward to do on my own DeWalt TS. Question I have from here is that I lost the skirt from the edges when I cut it to the correct length, what have I missed, angles and everything...

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

I checked that with the technician at the workshop and he said it's not a problem. At the workshop they have a Panhans 690-100 TS which cuts through Zebrano like paper.

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Hi, I'm not sure what i've walked into with all of the debates, but firstly thanks for going to the trouble of drawing the diagrams they actually make everything a lot clearer. Here's what I understand. A 35 degree bevel cut on my piece should automatically give me a skirt of 6.1mm which is...

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Okay I feel like this is what I need but could you break it down into simpler terms and I also don't know what a 4square is...

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Okay I should have been clearer, firstly i'm an amateur woodworker starting off so excuse the elementary nature of my questions. 45 degrees and 5mm is perfect, i'm trying to recreate it but i don't need it exact. When you say 12.5mm is that the what i'd set the fence to? Would you mind...

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

I go to a professional workshop so they have every machine you can think of, So if I draw a straight line of where i want the bevel to finish, where do I set the fence, that's one thing i'm unsure about, and secondly I don't know how to get that vertical height of 6mm as jonah mentioned?

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Thanks Jonah, so the 290 x 55 x 24 with 30 wide is what i want the finished piece to be, my question i guess is what size piece should i start with to achieve that? The vertical section is 6mm. Also, how did you get 56.7 degrees from the 1.52? And if i was cutting the angle at 56.7, where would...

The maths behind cutting these bevels?

Hi all, I'm trying to recreate the base (ignore the name) but don't know how to do it. All I know is my finished size of the piece I want is 29cm x 5.5cm x 2.4cm, and the main thing is the part on top in the middle where the name is sitting I want to be 3cm. While I want to re-create it, I...

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Thanks for your replies guys, 24.5mm was spot on, see below on my scrap piece. Really happy with it! Graham, I concur I want to throw the template away too, only thing I wasn't sure of was how to then mark out the mounting plate, so I used it for that as below. If I didn't want to use that what...

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Okay so my mounting plate says 'D1.5' However my in built cabinets have the same D1.5 mounting plates, but they are fitted with a full overlay. Because I used that template there was no option to adjust the cup distance, i've brought the Kreg hinge jig too (a similar one) and even that only...

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Thanks Graham, I did exactly that and it works! But my overlay is half as you can see in the picture, I need it to be a full overlay, what can I do to fix that, is that adjustment or is that to do with where the cup was drilled?

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

So i just brought M5 x 12mm screws as it is on this website for my mounting plate, and the screw doesn't fit, im even more confused now, what am I missing?

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Thanks this is a really helpful video, I looked at my mounting plate and it's threaded, which im guessing means theres no give to put in a bigger screw?

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Okay so I feel like i'm almost at the finish line, I decided to use this template which makes things really easy, but there is a problem, this is the instruction video from Hettich: The drill bit needed to create the hole that can fit the template holes for the mounting plate is 4mm, but the...

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Thanks Ollie, sorry when you say the arm being bent or offset, is that in regards to the type of hinge or something else?

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Hi Doug, Thanks for that and i'm going to try that today, but before I do i'm a little confused as to why we are adding half the hinge cup to the cup distance (not questioning you, just trying to understand) and secondly the 7mm cup distance is for the inset doors, but mine are full overlay, i...

How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Thanks for your replies guys, okay so i'm saying 19mm overlay but I don't even know if that's right, i've stood the pieces up, this is basically what I want, and there's two doors. In terms of the third hinge, i do want to add a 3rd hinge, but as you said there is a shelf in the way if I centre...
