    Boxed in garage door motor

Yeah, it would leave very little room, unfortunately.

    Boxed in garage door motor

I'm partitioning off my garage so part of it can be a work from home area. I can't take the stud to the ceiling due to the garage door & motor. I am going to box it off, and put a door in the stud wall for access between the 2. There is another door in the working area; I'm just making sure I've...

    Damp grout?

Thinking about it, they put the shower screen on, then they sealed around the tile/shower base with silicone. They should of sealed around the entire tile/shower base first, then put the shower screen on? There could be gap at the bottom of the internal channel of the shower screen where water...

    Damp grout?

Someone else. I've just got in touch with them; they are decent people, so I expect them to come back out. I just hope they don't silicone the shower door, I read you're not meant to do that.

    Damp grout?

Thanks for the reply. If I point the shower head into the corner, then water is escaping to the outside of the shower; almost like it is running down the valley of the shower door, and out underneath the shower tray. The water finds a way out, and is appearing on the floor, coming through the...

    Damp grout?

Hi there, I've just had a new ensuite fitted, and portions of the grout don't seem to really dry it. I dried it as best I could last night with a hairdryer (image attached), left it over night, checked this morning, and it looks to have regained a bit of dampness (image also attached) . The...

    Lawnmower and garden tools storage

Thanks a lot for this; it's really helpful! One last question, if you don't mind. The price of materials is insane at the minute; rough sawn treated timber is cheaper. Is this type of timber reliable/suitable for this type of project?

    Lawnmower and garden tools storage

Hi, I am keen to try a bit of a DIY project over the next month or so, and decided on building a small storage unit/shed for the garden lawnmower, and a few others tools. It only needs to be 3ft by 5ft, and 5ft tall (with a sloping roof to the back, for rainfall). As the unit is going to be...

    Brick Slips on BAL board

Hi everyone, I am going to be using BAL board on a stud wall to support the weight of brick slips. I was wondering what is the best/appropriate product to prime the board before putting on the brick slip? It's just a single stud wall, approx 4m * 2.5m. Is it PVA, or a specific BAL product...

    Plastic oil tank disposal?

Hi got rid of oil and installed gas heating. Wanted rid of the old oil tank. Stuck it on gumtree for free and some fella came and took it. No cutting, no hassle, just lifted it on to the back of a trailer! :)

    Partition Wall Garage

The garage is L shaped. Main garage door entrance at the top of the L, PVC window and door round the corner at the bottom of the L. The office is for me myself only; it's an office/sitting area as I am working from home full time. The house is 200 years old. The garage is new build. Any...

    Partition Wall Garage

Haven't set my mind on a desk just yet; open to suggestions if you've any links to them on here :). Bird table sounds great, might even look into making one!

    Partition Wall Garage

Thanks a lot for great advice. My concern with boxing off the door is it might make it awkward if it needs work or serviced in some way. The motor is also there, which would be boxed off too then. There are independent light switches, and plenty of sockets round the walls. Definitely...

Thanks a million, Mark; great help!

    Partition Wall Garage

Thanks Mark. I figured the dpm is at least 100mm below surface, and there would still be a chance of moisture escaping from the concrete, and causing issues above surface.

    Partition Wall Garage

The door is brand new. It's a fully insulated and sealed door. Don't really want to change it. I didn't pick the door, it was the previous owner, but it's an excellent door. It would be a sin to change it.

    Partition Wall Garage

Thanks a lot. Apply it to the timber studs you mean, or the concrete floor? Don't want to apply anything to the concrete floor that will permanently stain it.

    Partition Wall Garage

Thanks for the reply, James. Yeah, the door is sealed all the way round when shut. It's not a lot of space, but the office needs to be as big as possible. It's for work, and it brings in the money lol storage space has to give way to that :). If I'm running a DPM in between the concrete...
