well they burn wood, so wood related......?

There are hundreds. It depends a lot on finding one that suits you. I like this guy’s YouTube channel. He’s a bit geeky but he really cuts to the issue. (I don’t know how to link to a channel so it’s just a random link to one of his vids). I’m not surprised your wife finds sourdough more...

    Restoring 18C longcase clock case

Remember you can’t un-restore your restoration. There is no undo button. The clock looks absolutely beautiful as it is. Other than a very gentle clean with distilled water as suggested above, I wouldn’t touch it. Why buy a 17th piece if you’re then going to remove all patina and history? Buy a...

well they burn wood, so wood related......?

i love baking bread from scratch. I bake every few days and, using my own starter, high quality flour and slow ferments, nothing tastes better.

Advice on table saw that is "quietish"

I’d save my money and go for a good bandsaw. MUCH safer. Also it’s quieter and can easily achieve what you want. I’ve got a dewalt table saw and it’s very noisy. I’m probably gonna sell it, my two cheap-ish bandsaws; take a deep breath and get one good bandsaw instead. Only reason I can now see...

How do you do it? Your business

The root of your problem seems to be pricing. If you priced well you could afford either to pay a book keeper/admin or take half a day off to do it yourself. It’s very hard to price properly, as you said it’s scary, but if you don’t you, at best, will be stressed and unhappy, and at worst your...

    Oregon chainsaw

I have an Oregon and use it for my firewood. It’s very good. I really like the self sharpening and accept the cost of the new chain being a bit higher in exchange for the convenience. The instant stop is also very reassuring (though obviously all proper care is essential with such a dangerous tool).

Why did furniture makers put their mark on an invisible surface ?

It would have been seen as vulgar and intrusive. As many people in this post still agree, it was definitely not the purchasers role to act as an advertising board for the craft person. That would have been an unthinkable inversion of the social order. All that wash needed was a discreet mark for...

    Restore misted glass

Does anyone know if it’s possible to restore glass misted by a dishwasher? My lovely old irreplaceable beer glasses have been ruined. I tried auto glass polish to no effect. This forum seems to be able to solve just about any puzzle, so I hope this will be the case here! Thanks for any and tips.

    Wall plate sourcing?

Folding wedges sounds genius. I was thinking I’d have to dismantle and rebuild where the mortar had washed out. What exactly are folding wedges? I mean do you make them, or buy them…? Also I’m assuming I need to use lime mortar?
