    Yes mate, splines for extra strength. I really think though that if mitred and glued well enough they would be plenty strong enough without. The base is also 1/4 " birch ply that is inset and glued. It also ends up about and inch thick with how the sides are shaped so plenty of bonding area.

    There is a booked called fine decorative boxes, it is by Andrew Crawford. It covers the basics of building this box. Andrew runs courses at his workshop aswell if anyone is interested. I just went with the book and a lot of trial and error.

    I did the pour on a I think it was about a 600mm by 400mm sheet of 3mm hardboard. I mixed about 1/2 litre of resin and divided it into some plastic cups. Not equally if I remember because I wanted more of some colours. The colours were turquoise and white as the most and black pearl and silver...

    Thought I would share this. It is a gift to my sister for her 40th birthday, who is now 42, yes it took me that long. I would work on it in my spare time, in spells, then it was put on hold for various reasons. God knows how many hours it took, let's just say 'a lot'. Some may notice I borrowed...
