A little truth for a change.

Ah yes! Damn pesky Covid! And Putin too of course. It would all have gone swimmingly otherwise. But wait! All other EU countries experienced those factor too and they seem to be doing better than us. Funny old world int it? Enjoy your Brexit benefits when they eventually arrive.

A little truth for a change.

Cameron thought it would shut the Leavers up and head off a threat from Farage's fascists if he held hold a token referendum which he expected to win. He was, and is, an entitled silly person.

Of course it was a mistake. Look at the facts. You are out of date and left behind.

I’m in favour of a “National Reconstruction Tax” on all who voted Brexit!! Why should the rest of us pay for their mistake!!! 😬

A little truth for a change.

Three “facts”: 1. The world’s climate has changed very significantly in the last 100 years. 2. That change has been caused by human activity. 3. The consequences of that change are negative for humanity. If you don’t accept that those three things are true you are an silly person. Goodbye 😀

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Bookcase for my study. Oak. Quite an energetic job as my raw material was rough sawn oak so quite a bit of sawing and planing. But I’m pleased with the result. Now I only have about 300 books sitting in piles on the floor without a home😀

    Shooting board woes

If it’s any consolation to the OP I bough a Veritas shooting board and one of their fancy shooting planes (big ouch to wallet) and I still don’t get perfection!!!

Parf guide mk2 - what am I doing wrong?

I’ve done 3 surfaces now using the Axminster kit. Seems that your two problems are not clamping the orange guide fully and not using the kit drill bit.

    Need to escape/reset

I would strongly recommend the two books Yorkieguy mentions. They are an interesting and ,actually, enjoyable read with a lot of good stuff to think about and try out.

    Need to escape/reset

I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. I’m late to the thread and there is lots of good advice here. Most of all I would echo contacting your GP and an ex servicemen’s organisation- RBL or your former Regiment. I do hope things soon get better for you.

    Setting up a plane

As Jacob said right at the beginning of the thread Faithful planes have an iffy reputation. When I was restarting woodworking I bought a couple new not wanting to spend too much money in case I didn’t carry on with the hobby. I had exactly the same experience as you. I spent a lot of time and...

    Osmo a bit flat

I’ve always been pleased with the results from Osmo Polyx but I usually use a Matt or Satin finish. I only sand to 180 or at most 240 (rarely). Just a shot in the dark - could it just be the nature of the wood? I don’t use Beech much as I tend to find it, shall I say, a bit boring and dull...
