Why is festool so much more expensive here ?

Also: apologies, I didn’t make it clear from the beginning that I’m from Italy but I live in NI, so I was talking about the two places in two different posts.

Why is festool so much more expensive here ?

NI is not in the EU, as we’re not part of the political infrastructure and in fact we have lost our MEPs. However, we are part of the single market and the customs union through a bilateral agreement (the NI Protocol), which means we can trade (more or less) freely with the EU. Many countries...

Why is festool so much more expensive here ?

Sometimes that is true, other times (because of ignorance or laziness on the vendor’s side) we are just “dumped” together with GB and they refuse to ship, especially true for big items requiring pallet delivery ☹️

Why is festool so much more expensive here ?

With the only difference that, when I’m in Italy, if I want to buy in any other EU country I can do it without hindrance… a couple of years ago I remember there were some good deals in Czech Republic for Festool.

    LS1219L Mitre Saw Alignment Issue

I have a LS1219L and I was resigned to the fact it would never have the blade really perfectly parallel to the rails. I’ll try the solution at the end of the thread! 🤞

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I absolutely agree, that’s a really valuable (and rare) service done to the customer! Yes, I am pleased indeed. This afternoon I have spent a couple of hours to finely tune the tables. Now the “ruler drag” has gone down from 6 to 4mm, and the bed are still all coplanar and at the right height...

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I actually just spoke with Louis at Scott&Sargeant, he told me that machines are used by them for the set up, so that's why there was some sawdust inside. He also told me that all machines are brand new, not ex-demo or returns. He also asked me to send him pictures of the damaged parts, so I...

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I thought the same, but I checked the spiral head and it had no signs of having been used. However, I think there's little I can do now, is it? I noticed the paint damage after I had already gone through all the faff to get it inside, the thought of returning it back sent shivers down my spine...

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I think it's probably best not to start a new thread with my own "review" of the planer, so I'll just piggyback on this one :D I have finally received the planer last week! it was delivered in front of my garden room/workshop door and I naively thought it would've been able with the help of a...

That’s all really good advice, thank you!

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I agree, I can't wait to receive it and use it. I am also looking forward to a much more silent cut than my bench planer, which sounds like a jet breaking the sound barrier. I'm sure the neighbours will be happy about this purchase :D

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

I'm reviving this thread just to say I ended up buying the iTECH planer (y) I think this is slightly superior to the Axminster one, and cheaper as well. I too hope to post a first impression review, but that all depends on S&S actually shipping that to me 😅 I bought it at the end of last month...

    Ear defenders

I wish I had some (any!) ear protection all those years on the motorbike! However, this seems to be a really good solution, even if a bit expensive (double what isotunes cost) and without the option for a home appointment (I live in NI). Thank you for letting me know!

    Apples&Oranges: Laguna Fusion3 or iTECH 01332?

that's an interesting saw - it costs a bit more than the iTECH but has a sliding carriage already (which is £600 extra for the iTECH). it doesn't seem to be a copy of the SIP, though. I understand that at the time you would've bought the Laguna if you had the money, but would you still buy the...

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

having more than double the knives (and an accordingly more powerful motor) seems to be a huge difference - or not?

    planer thicknesser

I have the same model but branded Scheppach, bought in lidl a couple of years ago for less than 200 quid - I will only say that my next purchase is going to be a proper cast iron P/T! I’m not very happy about it and it’s really difficult to set it up decently, as the tables are never coplanar. I...

Cordless tools - Best Platform To Choose?

Absolutely, I agree. That’s why the big ones go on the likes of track saws, routers, sanders etc. 👍

    Ear defenders

Apart from the isotunes, are there any other in-ear ear defenders with Bluetooth? Or should I just use my airpods pro? 😁 By the way, as over ear protection I have the yellow peltor from 3M. I would never use them at the range, but they’re great for the workshop as they’re so light.

Cordless tools - Best Platform To Choose?

I have had Makita cordless (but also corded) tools for many years and I can say they are really good. However, as some other people have said, the 4 or 5ah batteries can be heavy on a drill - in this case just get a couple of the smaller 2ah and you’ll be golden. The 5 or 6ah ones are good on...

    Apples&Oranges: Laguna Fusion3 or iTECH 01332?

That’s a real curve ball! 😉 I have to say that I would like to get the tablesaw in time for Christmas, so I don’t know if that would be feasible. Surely I’m looking for a tablesaw that has the riving knife that rises and falls, so it would leave the startrite only. What are the differences in...
