    Rutlands Warning!

I can definitely see the logic in using Banggood instead of Rutland (often identical items), but how do you speak to Banggood customer services or return an item ? I've used Rutlands for several 'non critical' items and I've never has an issue with their items or their customer services.

BUILDING WITH SIPS - ANYONE ANY EXPERIENCE

Stuart ... Have you had a look at The Restoration Couple on YOUTUBE ? They have a series of short videos on building a workshop in their garden out of SIPS (metal surfaced) around a wooden frame structure. He goes through all the costs at the end too. Great guy, I recommend watching his build.

    Mortiser or Domino

1500w and 1/2" shank sounds great Peter ! Will definitley take a look at that when it's available. Thank you.

    Mortiser or Domino

To me, this feels like a big drawback for a relatively expensive machine. The Pantorouter's functionality and flexibility looks great, but if the design/build-strength can't take a more powerful router than a 1000W 1/4" collet Mafell then that's really limiting it's potential, in my humble opinion.

    Mortiser or Domino

Sounds interesting Peter. Is there a collar for a 106mm diameter ?

    Mortiser or Domino

The Pantorouter holds the router in a circular clamp on the arm. Admittely this clamp is integral to the arm, but perhaps there should be different circular clamps to suit a variety of routers ? This would widen the appeal of the Pantorouter to those who already have routers, instead of...

    Mortiser or Domino

My point about the Domino being a 'one trick pony' is that fact that it can only cut mortises .. nothing else. It's a hugely expensive tool just to cut relatively small mortices. Perhaps as a site tool it comes into it's own, but I just can't see the cost justification ( £1,000 + ) just to cut...

    Mortiser or Domino

Hi Johnny, I was addressing your comparision of the Pantorouter with the Domino. I would say the Pantorouter can do all that the Domino can ... and more. But it's not as portable as a Domino. The Domino has limited application, an expensive one trick pony really. As to the comparision with...

    Mortiser or Domino

johnnyb Matthais (Pantorouter inventor) certainly appears to cut a very large tenon in this video, way above the capacity of the DF700 domino machine. Video indexed to start just as the cut begins ...

    Mortiser or Domino

You can use several dominos together to produce a stronger joint. I would think it would be plenty strong enough for a chair leg. Personally, I prefer a larger tenon, hence my use of a 1" mortiser ( post above )
  15. ChrisMa

    Mortiser or Domino

It produces a "loose tenon" joint. The domino machine cuts a mortice into each piece of wood to be joined. A domino of wood is glued into each piece to connect them together. The strength will depend on the depth and width of the domino, and how many dominos you use for the joint. On the...

    Mortiser or Domino

I wonder if one of these would fit your requirement ? It certainly works well for me and wasn't as expensive as the smallest Domino machine. ** 1” morticer capacity, 750w motor, heavy cast iron construction, bench standing/floor standing with supplied metal floor cabinet ** I’ve been using one...
