    Sun damage to furniture

This is a piece of furniture my parents had made 20 years ago and as can be seen from the pictures it had suffered some sun damage. Is this repairable to the extent that the change in colour is less noticeable. It is American Black Walnut. Is it something a hobbyist could attempt or is it a...

    14th Century beams

Staying in a 14th Century cottage in Suffolk for the weekend and was intrigued by the markings on the beams. Anyone got any insights? Also the beam over the fireplace looks like it was reused, not sure from what, also anyone got any ideas?

    Wood movement

I made a box as a gift in my unheated workshop, all looked fine and brought it indoors. Couple of days later lid has warped slightly ( enough to brass me off) so that it is no longer flush with base. Obviously the change in humidity , annoying, but it’s wood so live with it. Wood Identification Please

Another for 2:1 sugar. Like others I am trying to reduce my sugar intake but sourdough, butter and homemade marmalade is just not worth giving up🤔. Been making it for 30+ years but I seem to be the only one in my family who likes it. I do force it in my grown up kids at Christmas in the form of...

    Hole behind skirting board

We had a new external door cut into a garage wall and some damp is now evident on the internal skirting board . When I removed the skirting there were holes in the wall and also under the door sill. My question is how to repair it?Should I fill the void behind the skirting with cement, expanding...

    Resawing

Does anyone know where I might get a 50mm piece of maple resawn into 2x 25mm ( ignoring kerf loss) in or around South Bucks? I generally buy from Surrey Timbers but they don’t offer the service . I don’t have a bandsaw but could use my table saw but only after buying a new blade and riving...
