Nope. If anything, it has straightened up some out of square grinds.

I use this for straight edges: https://www.turners-retreat.co.uk/proedge-premium-square-guide/p2833

    Sharpening

Not sure what you mean by a bump, but the edges come out nice and even all along the edge.

I bought my ProEdge recently and couldn't be more happy with it. Haven't tried turning tools yet but plane irons and chisels come up lovely.

    Rats in a trap...

The American CDC seems to think so: https://www.cdc.gov/plague/faq/index.html#:~:text=Worldwide%2C%20between%201%2C000%20and%202%2C000,number%20is%20likely%20much%20higher. Either way, I'm not going to worry too much. With modern antibiotics, plague isn't the killer it used to be,

    Rats in a trap...

Not sure it is. The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 specifies a number of animals in Schedule 9 that mustn't be released from captivity such as grey squirrels, muntjac deer, African clawed toads but surprisingly doesn't include brown rats. I do wonder if there's anything anywhere else that...

    Rats in a trap...

Bubonic plague is still around with a couple of thousand cases every year. Weil's disease or leptospirosis, that we vaccinate our dogs against, is still a big problem with supposedly between 50% and 60% of rats carrying the disease and leaving it everywhere they go. Cavers have to be especially...

    Saw stop ( USA )

I'm not the one lecturing. That'll be the one who wants everyone to reject all notion of fitting a safety device to a potential flesh shredder. But please point out where I have tried to tell people how to operate a table saw. I have taken issue with Jacob's intransigence that borders on the...

    Saw stop ( USA )

That whole thing, not just what you've selectively snipped above, reads like the grasping at straws that you are famous for to back up your strange prejudices. They haven't provided any real evidence and is obviously a desperate attempt to avoid having to incorporate technology that they will...

    I've already said I haven't.

    Saw stop ( USA )

I don't think anyone has ever said you shouldn't have an opinion. what people have said is that you really need to stop constantly banging whatever drum you have nailed your colours to. Just constant repetition and facile opinions that are often wrong but you can never back down or admit there...

    Saw stop ( USA )

Your circular arguments are mind boggling. So because other people haven't got something, then no one should? You make less and less sense as you frantically dredge up some other confirming opinion as you have no real valid arguments.

    Saw stop ( USA )

No, you would continue to employ all the good practices that you have been employing in your own workshop. Another very strange reason. Others might not have it so you shouldn't either. Some vintage cars don't have seatbelts, does that mean we shouldn't have mandated them in more modern cars in...

    Saw stop ( USA )

No I haven't. I don't own a table saw, I don't have the space but if I did, then I would be keen to have one with a saw stop. And there you go with the cognitive bias again although you are displaying a fair degree of confirmation bias as well. Your arguments are specious in the extreme but as...

    Saw stop ( USA )

What I can't understand is why there are people that seem to think that a saw stop should not be fitted. Their whole reasoning seems to be that people should be well-trained to a professional standard, be fully aware of what they are doing, not take risks, use guards and, to keep hands well away...

    Setting up a plane

Also make sure you aren't going against the grain. Spin your piece of wood around 180 degrees and see if that makes any difference. Also, do you get the same issue when planing an edge?

    Shooting board woes

I thought this was an interesting video: Different to how I've always gone about a shooting board but I'm tempted to give it a try and see how it works out.
