Set of planes on Gumtree in Merseyside

Well done - got a bargain there. If I was closer I'd have been round there like a shot, but glad someone got them who'll make use of them. Looked like a couple of 4's, a 4½, a 5½, and a 7 plus a 78? Cheers done.

Sold 40+ Woodworking Magazines in mint condition

I am having a clear out and I have a number of Woodworking magazines that are FTAGH - but need to be collected from CF15, North Cardiff. There are 34 "Woodworker" magazines covering January 2017 to June 2019, plus 8 assorted mags (Wood Turner, Fine Woodworking, etc). Altogether they are quite...

    First hedgehog already!

Attached is a short video of a night time visitor. Comes back and forth several time during the night - assuming it's the same one.

    First hedgehog already!

BTW - mealworms are not good for hedgehogs, although they do absolutely love them. We buy Calci worms instead which are OK for hedgies and the birds love them too. We buy them by the sackful! Cheers Doug

    First hedgehog already!

We had one appeared here in Cardiff about 4 weeks ago but obviously went back to bed for a while. He(/She) was back out on this past Monday night and has been back every night since. We normally have 5 or 6 visiting throughout the summer and generally see at least 2 newborns every year. Last...

    Edwardian moldings repro sources?

Robert Price in Taffs Well would machine some up for you but would likely need a sample. I had about 12 feet of dado rail made there to match an existing profile about 18 months ago. From memory it cost £50 to make the cutter plus cost of timber. Not cheap - but cheaper than removing and...

    Micro Lathe Identification

Thanks Mike - that's the one. I picked it up with a few extras for roughly half Alibaba price (Ex shipping) so I'm happy with that. It'll only get light use from me so should last me a good while. Nice to know where it came from. Another poster has given me a good link for spares too. Regards...

    Micro Lathe Identification

Hi all, I recently picked up this mini lathe for doing small items, locally off Gumtree. It all seems to work fine, but the mystery is that there is no makers name anywhere on the machine. On the front it says 'Micro Lathe' but I can't find anything specific online for that. Being a novice with...

Advice on best sealant for around UPVC frames

Hi all, Hope I have got this query in the right section. I use my garage as my workshop. The garage was originally built with just an up and over door at the front (which I have replaced with an electric roller door to make better use of the wall space), and the previous owners had a UPVC door...

    Resaw blade advice

I have a Record BS300, fitted with a Tuffsaws 5/8" premium blade - 3/4 Varitooth which I use for resawing mainly hardwood. I used to do the accounts for a fireplace shop and the fitters often took out nice hardwood mantles which ended up on the skip, and I managed to rescue quite a few which I...
