    Parkinson Perfect Vice

Some great work on this thread. Parkinsons really did produce quality kit. Here's my No16.

    Parkinsons No16

Hello all I got this lovely old beast the other day from the other half's mother (it was my Birthday). It had been in her Cellar for many a year attached to an old bench. I'm rather taken with it. Woodworking Vices aren't normally my thing but this may be the start of a new collecting...

Blocking a cooker air vent, wasp entry

Yes that's exactly what I was told by Rentokill when I had one in the loft. Leave the old one there as it deters them from returning.

    Parkinson Vice

Hello all Thought i'd post some pics of a new addition to the collection. It's a Parkinson Model F No7. Nice old thing, for some reason it's been painted green early in its life as the paint is old & the original colour where green areas have come off is underneath & looks in very good...

Turning Garden Ornaments in to Working Tools

Good job. Boiled Linseed Oil might be a good finish instead of paint.

    Little & Large Vices

The earlier one I have has Handy Model No G3 cast in but no reg number. Did they ever cast the Parkinson name in to the Handy's? I've never seen one of those, if you have a pic or anything Danny that would be cool to see. It always seemed an odd choice not to cast their name in, I mean the...

    Little & Large Vices

Yes that's a fair point, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for that. It really is a quality little thing.

    Little & Large Vices

Hello I picked up a little Parkinson No 0A Vice today. It's pictured next to my Parky No8 & a 3in1 can for scale. Incredible quality for what I assume is a hobby vice, really illustrates how good Parkinson were.

    why buy old vices??

That's horrendous, they must be utter junk. Thing is it's not just the fact it's money wasted it's also the safety aspect as I wouldn't really want to be using something that just failed (no doubt easily) in that way. Reminds me of many years ago before I even knew about old vices, I bought a...

Turning Garden Ornaments in to Working Tools

Brilliant stuff. As a big fan of both Parkinson & Fortis vices this is fascinating to see, I look forward to future instalments. That big Fortis 13 is really cool. I know from my own Parky's that they really are well made solid things.

    Cordless drill

I've had a DeWalt 18v lithum cordless combi for about 8 years. It's been excellent & is even pretty good at drilling into masonry when needed. I had a Makita 18v before that & just wasn't impressed with it (it was a nicad type though). I got mine on offer from Screwfix. Worth waiting for those...

    Fortis vice

Hello It's not massive I think the jaws are about 4 inches (I would go check but it's freezing in the garage !), it is quite weighty though, I think it weighs around 48 pounds. It seems quite beefy. I do rather like the old thing & i've never found any other images (apart from in an old...

    Fortis vice

Hello I got a new vice today (it'll be the last one.. honest !) It's an old Fortis but a bit different, it's not steel.. Cheers :)

    Happy new year to all.

    New tools?

I got some Wera Kraftform screwdrivers (the ones with those weird grippy tips). I was initially skeptical of this feature just being a gimmick but having used them today they did allow me to unscrew a completely mullered pozi-drive screw that other screwdrivers wouldn't shift.

    Spanner & knife

Hello, thanks for that, good info' to know, much appreciated (y) :)

    Spanner & knife

It's a Plessey radio connector spanner. They were modified to fit the connectors hence the 'Heath Robinson' jaw adaptors. Those jaws are normally missing as folk take them off as with them on it's not much use for anything else.
