    Makita vac with cyclone.

I've seen a YouTube video somewhere, maybe by Peter Parfitt whereby he puts a black bin bag inside the drum underneath his cyclone. Using a shop vac he sucks the air out of the gap between the drum and the bag to make the bag "stick" to the drum causing a small vacuum that then prevents the...

    Makita vac with cyclone.

I use a blue barrel. Maybe 25-30l in size. When the barrel is empty I have managed to collapse it when there was a blockage with my lvhp shop vac. Pops back to shape with a bit of persuasion.

    Table saw

I have a rage 5s and have found it to be excellent. I have found Saxton blades can be bought for this saw and came with the required reducer ring - I have an 80T for crosscutting melamine with a zero clearance insert. Add a decent outfeed table and you can rip cut full 8x4 sheets on it. I...

Paint rubbing off thicknesser bed onto workpiece

I do try to lift the board on entry & exit, but find I get variable results. The difficulty with feed tables is they have to raise and lower at the same rate as the thicknesser bed. I've seen images of people extending the beds with ply, but there is probably a limit before you start to apply...

Paint rubbing off thicknesser bed onto workpiece

Thanks, I'll get sanding then. On a second topic how do you find the snipe on your clarke? Do you have any tricks to reduce the snipe on your thicknesser? I quite often get a good inch of snipe each end. I'm probably lacking technique....

Paint rubbing off thicknesser bed onto workpiece

I have a clarke 10" planer thicknesser. It is maybe 7 months old. I have noticed that the paint on the thicknesser bed is starting to rub off onto the workpiece leaving white/grey streaks. The jointer bed is a machined finished surface and doesn't have the same issue. Is this a known defect...

    Glass Panelled doors

Good point about sealing the mdf. Ive watched a couple of videos of the products you have suggested and they appear to be used to seal between the glass and the white front fascia of an outside window. See attached. Many are also only available in white/black/grey. I'm not sure this is what I'm...

    Overhead dust extraction/power cords

Peter millard has a workshop tour video where he talks about this. (Ive seen it but cant provide a libk im afraid) He uses an old photographers boom arm for his vacuum and power

    Glass Panelled doors

The door seems to be quite solid without the glass as it is, though I'm sure the glass will only add to the strength. Im planning to fit the glass once it is in situ in the final room to make it a bit lighter to manoeuvre up stairs etc. Yeah i was going for a robust door. So many sliding...

    Glass Panelled doors

I'm part way through a project creating bespoke fitted wardrobes with sliding doors. The door construction is stacked 19+13mm walnut venered mdf to create rails and stiles. The center is 6mm toughened glass, of which 1 is mirrored & the other two are opaque painted glass. The outer edges of the...
