Evolution circ. saw with track or Mac plunge saw?

I have the Evo circ saw and tracks and I’m in love-hate relationship with it. Ive upgraded the blade for finer woodworking cuts. It’s mostly fine. But to echo everyone else - not for fine woodwork. I’ve had a hell of a time with the splinter strips coming off - which is a real pain and makes it...

    Thicknessing small pieces of wood

I’d make a hand plane thicknessing jig - lots of examples on YouTube. Good for kumiko pieces for example.

Laying tiles (mosaic) outside advice sought.

I did actually wonder about that - we tiled the top of the bricks to protect them a little bit was unsure about sealing the back. Will it allow the brick to “breathe” (do they need to?) any thoughts/knowledge appreciated.

    Kity 636

thanks. I've just been catching up on your build updates after I posted before. Great work man, I'll probably be copying you - I'm working out of a small workshop too. I'll be interested to hear about any design mods you'd make after you've had a chance to use your setup for a while. cheers nic

Laying tiles (mosaic) outside advice sought.

Thanks everyone. my girlfriend started before we had a response (impatient/excitable)* delete as appropriate. we went for fireproof adhesive Victas HB60 and a heatproof grout. We’ll use a sealer on top after. Hopefully it will hold up. It’s pretty rustic fun and colourful so hopefully any...

Laying tiles (mosaic) outside advice sought.

Hi guys, I know this isn’t woodwork related but seeking some advice on the off chance. Partner wants to do a tile mosaic on a brick wallabove a brick bbq (that she just roped us into building 🙃) I think we need a heat proof thin set adhesive that is also exterior. But I can’t seem to find...

Another Fobco Star pillar drill resto

That’s a great reply thank you CG - and I’ll definitely be picking your brain I’m sure. I’ve purchased the manual already - just waiting for it to be delivered. (a paper manual these days?! I thought it was gonna be a pdf. Paper is probably more helpful tbh 😀) I’ve seen that thread over at...

Another Fobco Star pillar drill resto

Hey CG, how are you getting on with your refurb? Any pics/answers to the above. I’m due to start my Fobco restoration in short order and having never done it before I’m following all other threads I can for information. Replacing the bearings and refitting correctly is the bit that I’m...

Beginner seeking advice for buying timber

Hi all. I’m a relative beginner - I have some skills but really lacking some knowledge and confidence. I’ve read custard‘s great thread on buying hardwoods And it’s been really useful. But I’m seeking a resource (book/video/website) to learn about the thought processes that happen when...

    Axminster craft table saw?

Thanks for the links. I guess I’m pretty capable of doing stuff but I’ve been bitten before when buying an old beetle - refurbing stuff that has been “fixed” by previous owners if you have no frame of reference to how it should be properly is a bit of a nightmare.

    Axminster craft table saw?

I see this kind of response a lot. And I totally get it. I’d much prefer to buy old and British for the quality. But did you refurb it yourself? How would one do that without any instructions or prior knowledge of these machines - makes it very daunting. I’d be afraid of buying a machine I...
