Post a photo of the last thing you turned

Rough turned some green ash last weekend, and made a new mallet from an offcut of an old oak beam. Haven't been on the lathe for a while, took a bit to get back into it, but now avoiding the list of jobs I have in favour of turning things I don't need.

    Anatomy of a table

Hi all, Thanks for your comments. The 'design' of table is dictated buly the space there is to situate it, and it has to fit in with the other furniture in the room, which is the design council's high end Next stuff. Appreciate all your input and knowledge.

    Anatomy of a table

Evening all, Looking for opinions. I'm building an end table, standard shaker style thing with a drawer, maybe 2. Its going to be approx 90cm wide, 30cm deep, 70cm tall. Legs are approx 5cm thick. Aprons are going to be approx 12cm tall(?). Here's the advice part. Will this table require...

A little truth for a change.

Might be my ineffective brain, but I have no idea what point you're making.

A little truth for a change.

Are you suggesting that 70 odd percent of the voting population turned out because they thought their vote was effectively meaningless, and the government might ignore the result anyway?

A little truth for a change.

Not a privilege, or not a democratic society?

    What lathe to buy

It's the one I've identified for when I upgrade (currently). If you can get to a show, RP were offering it with the chuck and live centre currently offer online AND the outrigger for £2k at Newark the other day.

    Table saw advice?

What @Cabinetman advises is absolutely correct. I have a Fox version of the Record Power tspp250, this comes with a full length fence, but you can slide the high/low profile attachment to stop just after the first teeth to reduce the risk of kick back. If your having issues with the locking...

Nonsense!! That's got epoxy table written all over it. Robert's your mother's brother! Preserved shipwreck and practical banquet table.

My wife's died. Well, according to Inland Revenue....

Is it time to cut your losses? I know that if my wife was declared dead and then several days later she was resurrected, I'd not hear the end of it! She already believes she's omnipotent, I can't bear her taking after deities as well...

Does this mean you're free to buy tools without fear of recrimination??

Post a photo of the last thing you made

An individual after my own heart....No phone can be discarded....Every key has a purpose and no doubt it will be established what that is the second I give up on it, ergo it can never be thrown out. Lovely bit of organisation of your drawer of shame.

    Severance negotiations

If they make your employment there untenable I believe you would have a case for constructive dismissal. But I'd look into that further yourself.

    Severance negotiations

https://landaulaw.co.uk/interviews/#:~:text=Can%20you%20be%20disciplined%20because,a%20reason%20to%20dismiss%20you. Can you be disciplined because you are applying for a new job? You are entitled to look for a new position and you cannot generally be disciplined for doing so. It is certainly...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

The design council and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary at the weekend and the council had asked a while back for "a box to fill the gap under the TV". So I've gone rouge and built something without council approval as a surprise. A keepsake box for all the bits we collect from the...
