For Sale Electra Beckum HC333 - Spares or repair

Quite possibly but that's a number of levels above my IT ability and I don't have the time required to pursue that option. Someone more tech savvy than me could possibly get the machine up and running pretty quickly with that kind of fix.

For Sale Electra Beckum HC333 - Spares or repair

I'm selling an Electra Beckum HC333 planer/thicknesser for spares or repair - £150. This sale is for the whole machine but I would consider selling individual spares separately. The machine is complete and all parts are in working order apart from: a missing outfeed roller damaged drive gear...

    Festool Vac Repairs

Thank you. I left it quite a while but no luck. I will see if a night in a cold workshop has resurrected it.

    Festool Vac Repairs

Evening All, My Festool CTL Midi vac was working great this afternoon - and then it wasn't. Nothing appeared to go bang, no fuses tripped etc. It was working fine then the next time I went to use it it wouldn't work at all. It's not the fuse or plug or the socket. Any suggestions on (a)...

Garden Gate - design sense check please

Thanks Robin. I will try to source the timber well in advance of manufacture and leave it outside.

Garden Gate - design sense check please

I was thinking or wedging as well as pinning but thought there might be an issue with decay setting in on the exposed end of the through tenon in this layout. Would be interested to know if you have had any issues like that?

Blum runners on solid wood carcass

Thanks all for your really helpful suggestions. The moral here is don’t get talked into doing something before you’ve thought it through!

Blum runners on solid wood carcass

Morning all, I’m making a couple of drawer units (ie small chest of drawers) for a home office. Spec calls for solid wood carcasses but with Blum movento runners. Any idea how to allow for movement in the carcasse when attaching the runners (grain on the carcasse is running top to bottom ie...

Garden Gate - design sense check please

Hi Dee J, what would you think about dealing with the problem you identify by the extending the top rail the full width of the gate (other than the difficulty of putting a curved shoulder on the tenon on the top of the stile)?

Garden Gate - design sense check please

Ah, thanks - I hadn’t thought of that! Glad I asked. Will tweak the design.

Garden Gate - design sense check please

Thanks for that Aidan. I wasn’t aware of that type of hinge. Looks like that could be a very neat solution.

Garden Gate - design sense check please

Evening All, I've been asked to make a pair of garden gates broadly like the design attached below. Before proceeding I would welcome any thoughts on the following points: 1: They will be made of air dried english oak (apart from the top branch wood panels which will be yew). I'm planning...

    Woodworm advice

Me neither! This is a slightly unusual one in that the tree was felled on the client’s property and for sentimental reasons he had it milled on site in order to make something out of. I got that commission. The timber itself is pretty soft and any changes in grain direction result in tear out...

    Woodworm advice

Thanks very much everyone for your input. It’s been really helpful. The client has agreed for me to treat the timbers so the project proceeds in this case. M/C is now c. 12% and the final piece will be stored in a centrally heated house so I’m reasonably confident the that the problem will not...
