    Doer Compact Tool Kit

A friend asked me about a "Doer Compact Tool Kit" TBH I've never heard of it and have no idea if it's worth it. He has very limited space and quite likes the unit. https://manofmany.com/living/doer-compact-tool-kit-kills-the-tool-shed Anyone actually tried it? ... or seen it in action?

Chassis (galvanic) corrosion caused by common negative on vehicle

Has anyone actually experienced galvanic corrosion caused by a common negative (neutral) using the chassis, particularly in a vehicle with a leisure battery? I know the theory that a DC-DC (B2B) charger based on common negative using the chassis instead running negative cables could cause some...

Amazon seems to be getting more and more expensive

I realised the other day that my shopping habits have changed a bit in the last few months. For the last two or three years I have bought almost everything from Amazon because: 1) they were cheaper 2) the review system offered handy info and feedback 3) returns policy was (and still is) great...

Will electrolysis damage bearing housing during rust removal?

I'm about to strip my spindle down on my Fiat Ducat motorhome. I'm planning to get rid of the rust and prep for paint before I reassemble with new bearings. My question is: if I use electrolysis to remove the rust (washing soda with 12v battery charger), is there a possibility of damaging the...

What would you charge for this?

Hi folks Did a small job for a local shop, a simple melamine top. I've never done paid woodwork before and have NO idea what to charge. Alli-in-all about four hours, for that we: Built a base for the top (pretty standard) Cleaned edges of the melamine top with a router (they were quite ragged)...

Cutting melamine to shape without chips

I need to cut some melamine to shape (i.e. to fit into a little alcove). A table saw or track saw is therefore out of the question. I'll need to use a profile gauge. In the past I've done it in one of three ways: 1) Clamp another plank to the upper surface and use a jig saw with fine teeth...

Liquid PTFE any good? ... better than tape?

Any comments on the best PTFE - is it tape or liquid? I've run out of liquid and wondering if I should use tape (I have plenty) or buy more liquid. Having asked the question, I've never had a leak from using liquid PTFE - but same for tape (if done properly). I just wonder if liquid is more...

How do you hold your hammer?

My late father-in-law owned a woodworking factory in Zimbabwe for many years, and often had walk-in job applicants. His first and basic test was to simply get them to hammer a nail into a piece of wood. Those who had some degree of proper training held the handle towards the end. Those with no...

    I saw this on Facebook

I saw this on Facebook and thought it worth sharing. Pity the quality of the pic isn't better because I'd like to see more detail of the construction.

Pallet wood can be pretty sometimes

Sometimes I really like pallet wood. I didn't think much of this until my daughter asked me to plane it for her - she's planning to paint something onto it. I'm looking forward to the finished project. Not sure what shape she wants to cut it to.

    Planer Thicknesser blade sharpening tool

I see many many DIY sharpening tools out there, mostly made of wood. Youtube is full of them. Then I see there are a few (very few) expensive (very expensive) commercial kits. Is there such a thing as a reasonably priced commercial tool or jig for sharpening blades between 250mm and 330mm wide...

    Veritas Carpenters Gauge alternative

I recently saw a video where the guy used something similar to a Veritas Carpenters Gauge, except it didn’t have a pencil holder. Basically had a short bar that you could draw a lime along using a free pencil or pen. Does anyone know what it is called so I can Google it?

    Performance Pro thicknesser blades - 335.5 x 12 x 1.6

Hi folks I bought a Performance Pro thicknesser (13”) that has blades 335.5 x 12 x 1.6 My blades are ok-ish and I’ll be able to sharpen them at least once, but it would be nice to have a spare set. I’ve pretty much accepted that I can’t buy those blades anymore. Now I’m hoping to buy closest...

Eumenia - is there a part missing at rear?

Hi folks New to the forum, did loads of woodworking many years ago and recently picked it up again. I've just bought a Eumenia RAS and wondering if there is a part missing at the rear. Doesn't make sense to me that the screw could dent the metal post. It's rounded off to a fairly sharp point...
