Post a photo of the last thing you made

Made my wife a corner desk. It started as oak kitchen top, cut to two wings, with profiled edge to have comfortable cotact with forearms. Metal box sections and plates, welded up and powder coated. One of the leg footers got a little shelf for a printer. The two wings are held together with...

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

The deed is done. Missus seems very happy with the final result, and so am I.

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Hello Ian, not sure you spotted it in the pictures, but the sharp plates are recessed into the table top, so if the knee gets close, should be all smooth. I'll take some better pictures at some point. Thanks for the note.

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Progress report. Finished welgding up 6 legs, will go to powdercoat eventually. Got the kitchen bolts from screwfix implemented, and leg plates resessed and thread inserts in those. At the other side of metal legs, there will be a board linkin two legs together, and distribute the load on the floor.

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

If anyone is reading, and considering buying these for big worktop - don't... This thing is really tiny. Would not trust it at all.

May I ask what have you used to apply the ink? Brush on?

I like those, fairly cheap too, should be simple to implement, to replace the glue. Thanks!

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Lots of great points here, thanks very much. With the grain direction difference, glue is indeed a bad call. I could however cut the top in a way so it runs the same direction. Unsure if I should, something I need to think about, but probably not. At that point I would think the table would be...

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Thanks All for contributions, much appreciated. I took the suggestion from Sachakins, which then later got reinforced by Fitz - going to use kitchen top (3m x 720mm x 40mm oak), cut to size, most likely a butt-joint, if I can borrow the router jig for it, and figure out how to use it. If not...

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Thanks Chris, just for sake of completness, here is the view from beneath: Yes I didn't put a leg in the corner. Don't want missus kicking it with her toe, as whe rotates on chair from one wing to the other.

Oversized plywood sheet for a corner desk

Hello dustmakers, I'd like to brainstorm best way forward for getting my desk top board sorted for a corner desk. Here is the rough design - wanted thick plywood, 20-30mm thick ish, and either buy veneered, or veneer it later. That's a minor detail. Some leg system, probably castle joints...

Nice. Though I gave up on bolting two together. They just don't seem to ever line up perfectly, so I gave up and got the 3 meter rail instead. Excessive, expensive, but makes me happy.

Spiral cutter head for planer thicknesser

I went from the same machine as you got, to the axminster spiral head. Twice the money, but well worth. I've done loads of work on it, and still not needed to rotate the carbides. I can't tell if it's the best purchase for the money, but doing me a great service.

Looks great. Are you not worried about the door sagging and going out of square without diagonal support?
