Hi Everyone , A large Lime tree was trimmed recently and I collected several pieces , as I may try carving besides my normal woodturning. I’m a bit confuses about the colour of the wood , which should be white - yellow , however as you can see it’s more of a orange / light brown ? Any ides ?

Anyone got some useful tips on the best methods , to turn the inside of a large end grain “ monkey puzzle “ bowl . The wood is well seasoned, at 10% moisture.

Just had a lime tree ( very old ) cut back near me . I know it's fantastic for carving ( like butter I'm told , although a hard wood ! ) as it hardly warps , but can it be ebonised ? Seasonal Greetings to all and thanks for the help / replies , this year 😁👍🏼

Got a 1hp Axminster band saw and I'm looking to purchase a new blade , mostly to cut bowl blanks etc ( green as well as seasoned woods ) . Any recommendations ?

My large face plate has 12 holes for screws . I pilot all the holes and have tried the recommended woodscrew with appropriate tapered heads , to fit in the recesses, to help stop any movement . Haven't tried coach screws , so I'll give it a go . I think the very fibrous nature of monkey puzzle...

Can't get the wood screws to " grip " my large face plate , onto my large monkey puzzle blank . I am trying to fit the face plate onto end grain . Any tips out there ? Cheers 😁👍🏼

Yep , still turning 😁👍🏼 Got a huge chunk of monkey puzzle tree to trim with my chain saw , so it fits on my Axminster Trade 1628 ! As said before , still can't get an electrician interested in fitting a new on / off switch to my 1HP single phase bandsaw 🤷‍♂️ Which I would of used to to trim the...

Thanks for all your help chaps . Major problem is getting an electrician interested ? As soon as I mention Band Saw , I get we only deal with domestic or call outs !! I guess that's where the money is ? I live in Portishead , N Somerset .
