    Ace & K compressor needs servicing/repair

Hi All, I've got an Ace & K powermax compressor that needs fixing (I think one of the rubber valves has perished). I've been looking for someone who can supply spares or do the whole repai/maintenance for me in the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire area. Anyone know of someone who can do this? I don't...

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

I just wanted to say thaks to everyone that offered advice here - thanks!!! My bar turned out VERY well indeed - had a really successful cocktail party and everyone couldn't believe I'd made a bar just for the party! It'll be staying until at least Christmas now, with regular cocktails being...

    CMT 3 in 1 edge/laminate trimmer bit?

yes it is - I'll send it back, although I wonder as it's so far out whether there's a more fundamental problem with it?

    CMT 3 in 1 edge/laminate trimmer bit?

I just bought one of these - it has a triangular plastic "thingie" around the bearing, the idea of which is to provide more surface area to contact the work piece. But - looking at it, and trying it out, the cutter actually isn't flush with the plastic on the bearing and results in taking...

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

Thanks guys - that's really useful info :) Reading the tech info on the FOrmica site, they say to not use contact adhesive if possible as it can suffer from edge lifting - they say use PVA! but of course, you have to clamp it which can be difficult on odd shaped pieces - or use contact in the...

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

Oh, and to get a really good edge, would you leave a small overhang on the top surface then fit the edge (providing it has a perfect stright edge) before trimming the top? ... or is that asking for trouble? ...or fit the edge first, trim, then fit the top? Edit - I just received my samples...

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

Excellent - just what I was after :) You also answered a couple of points I just asked/was going to ask :) I need to get a couple of items - roller and contact adhesive, oh and an edge trimmer bit for my router. Any recommendations as to the type/make of roller?

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

Good tip thanks :) I've not used contact adhesive before - I presume you spray both parts and only when they come together do they stick? What brand/type would you recommend? Do you also over hang the laminate and then trim to size?

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

oh, if I do go the laminate myself route, is there a common best practise for bonding to MDF i.e. what adhesives and techniques should be used? Thanks.

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

Thanks guys, I always get such good replies on this forum :) I don't think spraying would be good for me as I don't have the kit - laminating or buying cheap worktop from B+Q etc may be better. I do like the option of laminating myself as this might give me a better result??? especially with...

suppliers for laminate worktop and edging?

I'm just about to start designing and building a portable cocktail bar for an event we're holding. It's a fairly simple worktop design on a three part panel base (or at least it is so far!). It'll be something similar to: http://www.thecocktailbarcompany.co.uk/gatsby_bars.html The top is a...

    Advice needed on sink plinth

They're sawn but I've cross cut them to rough length already so I can store them. I guess I'll be losing about 3-5mm thickness when run through the thicknesser. They're pretty straight and solid.

    Advice needed on sink plinth

Thanks - that makes sense. I totally forgot about expansion when I was thinking about it! Too used to working with veneered MDF!!! The timber I have is kiln dried 1 1/2" stock. It's been sitting inside near the eventual location for a week now. How long would you normally give it to...

    Advice needed on sink plinth

I've now got some gorgeous 1 1/2" solid walnut - very good stuff :) I'm wondering whether to actually go for biscuited mitres all the way around (including top to sides/edges) - my thoughts are that it may then look too false (i.e. the veneered MDF look) and not play on the thick slab of solid...
