    Joke Thread III

I consider myself to be nearly vegan. I only eat animals that eat grass. Won't touch a tiger or a lion.

    Joke Thread II

Reminds me of one of my first attempts at oxy aceteline welding. My goggles had steamed up so I put the hand holding the hot welding rod up to move the goggles, severely burning my forehead. Didn't do that again!!

    Where are the pipe makers?

I can also vouch for RT.Shepherd. I have dealt with them for over 30 years, but they don't make border pipes. I have a set of their Scottish small pipes which are excellent.

    New Toy

Hope you remembered to get the treads both facing the same way. Had mine fitted in the UK and didn't realise they were pointing in different directions till I took them over to France.

    New Toy

I seem to recall you tried a ride on lawn tractor but not enough traction. At my house in France I had a nasty scare pulling a load of logs for the wood burner up to the house when the Westwood lost grip and jack knifed back down the hill. It just had the normal turf tyres on so I got a set of...

    Help identifying Grandad's tools

No copper pipe is too soft and would just bend. It was the old mild steel gas pipe we used.

    Help identifying Grandad's tools

No 3 is a home made punch for knocking holes through brickwork in the days before hammer drills. You get a length of gas pipe and cut some teeth on one end. Hit the other end with a club hammer whilst rotating it and it cuts a neat hole. Made and used them myself a long time ago.

    NINJA FOODI

I see your an Eriba fan. I have an Esterel at my place in France and absolutely loved it, using the State subsidised campsites all over France. Unfortunately I am no longer able to make use of it as my wife has developed Alzheimers and is unable to travel so it is stuck in a barn and the house...

How do you know you're getting old...

I still have one at my house in France. Very powerful little beasts. I remember once I decided to drive it back into the shed instead of pushing it. Misjudged and cracked the door frame when the wheel hit it. It will probably remain there as I'm no longer able to go out due to the wife having...

Help required. Taper lock bush. I think thats what its called.

As a matter of interest, which model do you have? Or is it one of the agricultural models. I have a Howard 700 which I bought about 15 years ago, supposedly refurbished, which I intended to take down to my place in France. Somehow it never happened and it has sat in my garage since then. Did...

    I had so much fun

When I was a wee lad in Angus, Scotland, the greeting was always "Foo they Hingin'" and the reply was "Hingin' plumb". 60 years later I can still recite " Nicky Tams " word perfect.

    Metal Detector

I use a RE magnet epoxied into the end of a piece of dowel. Doesn't get lost and does the trick. I also have 2 of the magnets Okeydokey describes which were taken from a disc drive many years ago when disc drives were the size of washing machines. I have these tied to a piece of cord and wave...

I have a house in La Creuse and yes it's in a hollow. At least it was last time I got to visit it thanks to Covid:cry:
