Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

As a long time Beekeeper I love hexagons but wouldn't use them in the workshop. I would not have the long flat joining bits, doesn't look right to my eye! However hexagon shelves are easy to make with a track saw and are easy to hang on dowels etc. Birch ply is great for them. I make individual...

Misconceptions about RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment)

Great post, agree totally with what you have said that engineering controls should always come first (have a career in filter design also). It has always surprised me more don't put dust control higher on the buying list for new tools, too many other factors seem to come forward before it goes...

Faux-Roubo bench build - quick question

great job. How was fitting the tail vise? Looks like the Veritas I have just bought to try!

    Domino or Jessem's creation.....

As I said, this wasn't a 'project' per se but just a demo at a Festool event hence the timing. Having said that the time over lunch was not very long! When I use dowels I drill and make at the same time.

    Domino or Jessem's creation.....

Read this with interest with everyone having more Domino experience than me, I am not an owner of a Domino (though not ruled out) but do use other Festool equipment for 15 or so years now as part of a well equipped workshop. I am an engineer working for a large company specialising in precision...

Old Stanley’s or new Quangsheng planes? Which do I need?

I now have a large collection of planes  don't ask but when I started I went through something similar trying to decide what to get. I was lucky at the time and started off with a similar 'collection' but am surprised to say that it was the 7 I used most initially, especially on bench...

    Which Lathe?

I got down to these two a well. The twister was a long way away to see / use so went for the Regent which has been great but think either will / would be great for owners I think.I struggled to separate them but went Regent with all the toys in the end.

    Luxury sharpening

I went through this of Axi vs RS, I went RS and have never regretted the decision. I like the idea of Tormek jig but have not found the RS wanting in any way in use so that is not relevant to me any more, RS is well built and sooo easy to use. It a class bit of UK kit.

UJK Drill guide vs pillar drill

Both have limitations, I would stick with what you have )went through a similar thing)

Faux-Roubo bench build - quick question

Don't worry about thick workbench top and holdfasts not working, rather than using 'blacksmith' holdfast look at the modern clamp style instead. [or relieve holes from underneath]

running battery powered tools using mains dc adapter

Love to know what you buy in the end

Wall mounted Extractors (Axminster AP50E vs RP Camvac)

add any length of pipe or flexible pipe or change diameter of pipe then the CFM will collapse VERY quickly on the Axminster due to the type of the machine. The RP as you say works very differently. this guy has multiple video comparing both types (and sells both).

    Camvac worth the money?

I have a two motor and three motor unit and love them. I also use a Festool M class 26. Camvacs are surprisingly easy to quiet down though I don't find them over noisy without any help. The exhaust muffler is great and really easy even if it looks like an octopus. Hooked on wood has some videos...

    Small 12v drill/drivers

If you want other 12v tools the Bosch blue looks excellent. I don't own them however (but keep looking at them!), I own a Festool CXS and TXS and they are frankly superb. Never found their limits. Making an MFT top was a doddle with small drill in CXS and forstner in TXS, though as centrotec I...
