    Circular saw sharpening jig

Thanks folks, It's very interesting. I can't see it as a lamp though. I might take it to show dad at the care home see if he recalls were it originated.

    Circular saw sharpening jig

Ah yes. It would look better than those poor wooden planes I've seen made in to lamps. It's a bit on the large size though. But you've given me the idea to keep the curios together and offer for conversions into new lives. Better than the bonfire?

    Circular saw sharpening jig

Hi Trevanion and AndyT, What kind replies. Yes there is no need to rush into disposing of the jig. Isn't it funny to have an attachment to it!!!! When the time comes sounds like something for an industrial museum. I've been a few times to the Sheffield museum, and living in Salford...

    Circular saw sharpening jig

Hi folks, I have always known this saw sharpening jig so it is a bit sentimental to me. It was the first thing I looked for when Dad could no longer use his workshops. My question is do people use things like this anymore?

    Help with identification

Hello friends, it is very warming on this wild February day to have your kind help. The draw lock chisel on closer looking is Stormont brand. I've photographed it ready for my next listing. I saw the Lie Nielson ones! Hope everyone is keeping warm Linda

Many thanks Andy. I do like to at least know that I am listing. I'll take a look at their sharpness. Linda

    Help with identification

A very belated happy new year! Illness, family in hospital and minor surgery have delayed sorting at dad's workshop but I am back to it and have a few things for help with! As I don't know what they are I am never sure if I have posted in the right section so apologies if not!

    Wood to painted wall adhesive

Yes, I think fixings are best in all circumstances where weight is to be taken, my dad would have gone with the longest screws and good rawl plugs and I am the same really. It's not a happy thing to have stuff fall off the wall!

    Saw handles

Thank you AndyT. Very interesting. And to think that these have been sitting around in my dad's things for all that time!!

    Wood to painted wall adhesive

How would marking where it will go on the painted wall and then remove that painted area and abrade the plaster. I see you can screw it so that should be fine. I've used a pattress in places in my house where there are stud partition walls and it works well and can look good depending on the...

    Saw handles

Gosh Andy, that is very interesting. It makes them feel like from another world. Would a shop have been selling them in 1958 which seems to be the year on them for people to renovate their own saws, perhaps because their own wooden handles had broken?

    Saw handles

Here are the markings on the rear of the 3 tenon saw handles. I don't know if they will shed any light on the handles. I would be interested to know what they might mean though Linda

    Saw handles

Ah, it looks a useful thing!

    Saw handles

Hello folks, I have been sorting through all the different types of saws and am getting there with them. But whether these handles are useful or not is something I wondered if any one might know. The smaller ones have some writing on and what appears to be the date in 1958? I would...

    Saw sharpening files

Thank you Bm101, that’s a very kind thing to say. Scooby it’s raining in my bit of Manchester, which is actually Salford. That was funny about the paint, but I actually like painting and decorating. My plasterer friend thinks women make good decorators because they are more particular, this...

    Saw sharpening files

Hi Lons, Good to hear about your past house renovation. This house was in a similar condition. A repossession, empty for 2 years with damage from a big water burst. We lived down stairs until the bedrooms were fit for purpose. It is a lovely friendly square of houses that were the original...
