    Files and Filing

I saw this project posted on social media over the weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaQtD5pyQc4 The jeweler seems to file a brass screw down really quickly. I wondered if he had cut out a lot of the filing footage when he was editing the video? I'm starting to wonder if I need a sharper...

    Deburring tool blade shapes?

Wow 50 years! I wish I had that much experience. I'm wanting a hardened version so I can use it on more materials. Does the tungsten finish make the blade better for hard metals? I like the idea of being able to switch the blades out for different applications.

    Rivets and rivet guns

Thanks. Do you know if these are suitable for stainless steel sheets: https://www.accu.co.uk/en/dome-rivets/6 ... D-3-2-6-A2 Will they rust quickly if they are used to connect the same material that they are made from?

    Rivets and rivet guns

Thank you, I've managed to borrow a small hand riveter tool. It is really quick and easy for punching plastic rivets into panels. I'm going to get the Tucker TT55 for stainless steel pop rivets. It looks like they are suitable for 2.4mm, 3.2mm and 4.0mm rivets?

    Deburring tool blade shapes?

I'm looking at deburring tools and the different blades that are available. Please can you tell me what the different shaped blades are for on this link: https://www.accu.co.uk/en/deburring-han ... -155-00161.

    Rivets and rivet guns

I'm wanting to get one for a fast installation that doesn't need to be pumped twice. Do you know how I can tell if one squeeze of the handle will install a plastic rivet? Some of the installation videos look like they take two or three squeezes of the handles to install them. Ideally I want a...

    Rivets and rivet guns

Hey. I'm sorry for the newbie question, but I'm wanting to get a rivet gun and I'm not sure which of the small rivet guns are best. Does anyone know what to look out for when buying a rivet gun please? I would ideally like a lightweight one that is as versatile as possible. Thank you!

Attaching a heavy drawer to the underside of the worktop

Thanks all for your input. The storage drawer is for vertical knife storage. I've decided that this unusually sized drawer will look strange on its own, so I 'd like to put it inside a standard size cupboard. Ideally I'd like to put a runner at the bottom of the drawer which attaches to the...

Attaching a heavy drawer to the underside of the worktop

I'm wanting to make a thin drawer (about 20cm tall) and attach it to the underside of my kitchen worktop. I'm thinking of using some standard drawer runners, but I'm not sure what type of screws I need to secure the brackets to the worktop because the worktop is MDF. I'm thinking of using...

Protecting wooden floor in new workshop

The feet will permanently support the weight of the equipment. We are looking for feet which won't embed into the floor. I've found some adjustable leveling feet but I'm not sure how easy they will be to install and adjust for good alignment.

    Corian/Minerva/Granite or something else?

We have Minerva and we are really happy with it. However, we have looked after it and always used chopping boards and never put hot pans directly onto the surface. Granite is harder and therefore more durable, especially in terms of scratch resistance. Maybe you could get a sample of each and...

I made mine out of an old kitchen worktop. Maybe look around your local woodyard and see what they have.

Protecting wooden floor in new workshop

I'm helping my uncle move some equipment into his new workshop. What is the best way to avoid damaging the wooden flooring? Its only a small workshop and he wants a small but smart looking solution. I was thinking about rubber feet rather than rubber mats?

    Model Railway Baseboard

Thanks Stuart Paul. My friend has almost finished building his layout and it rattles when the locos pass over the top. I'm hoping that these washers will reduce noise and vibration.
