Mitre Fence for Wadkin Table Saw

OP asked a question for a suitable mitre - I’ve suggested one that works with my AGS10, given it’s a 3/4 inch slot. You’ve just spouted off your opinion and given no actual answer to the OP. Wasting time really. Peter has subsequently given some more info and you can’t help yourself but have...

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

Hey you are correct that this is how it all comes apart. Might be a silly question but you’ve undone the grub screw(s) in the end collar? See my photo. Give the collar a whack with a wooden drift to break any surface bond if it’s slightly corroded onto the shaft.

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

Hi Deema, many thanks for the advice - I use a piece of timber when undoing the blade, but tightening is where I struggle. Ive had a blade slip a few times under use due to poor tightening. Scared myself so using the drill bit shaft at present. I can see how using a piece of timber at the back...

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

Hey Deema - no worries at all. Glad my unintended discovery is of some use. I’ve a question for you (sorry for thread hijack Kevin) how do you tighten your nut and grip the flange when changing blades? I’ve got a few C spanners and they don’t fit into the round hole in the flange, I’ve ground...

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

Hi Kevin, sorry about the delayed response.. I didn’t get any notification that you’d asked me anything, have played around with my settings and now receive updates. regarding my spindle housing, it didn’t have a recessed groove, just plain- see photo, no groove for a circlip. yeah my...

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

it was a fixed splitter but I subsequently bought a newer trunnion with Riving knife. Hey no problems, all about sharing snippets of info, your posts helped me massively - was a fixed splitter but got a new trunnion and a Riving knife assembly as was peed off with having to adjust the...

Baby Wadkin Bursgreen in California: Advice on an AGS10

Hey Deema - just an FYI - the flange being machined from a solid piece was not my experience when taking apart my spindle housing. I managed to actually remove the the flange by using a bearing puller. This wasn’t my intention, I was tired andwasn’t thinking and had set up my operation in...

Did you guys manage to get this fully finished off?

    Wadkin AGS knowledge required

These saws are really easy to strip down. Ensure you have some open ended “crows feet” spanners to allow you to take the table off. You won’t get a socket set or full ring spanner on 2 of the nuts. Should be metric, but perhaps take come imperials just in case it has some grandfathered parts...

    Hexagonal nylon bar/rod supplier

You could well be onto something here Myfordman, that might be an option. I need 5/8th BSW left hand thread in Nylon which clearly don’t exist, so I thought I could buy some M16 left hand thread nuts in nylon.. but that was also an outrageous thought by me.. didn’t pursue that Avenue much...

    Hexagonal nylon bar/rod supplier

Good afternoon, I'd like to know if anyone can point me in the direction of a supplier they know who can supply 1"or 25mm hexagonal bar/rod in shorter lengths. I need roughly 400mm in length to make some obscure nuts. I have searched Ebay high and low, and sent off enquiry forms and emails to...

What was your favorite sweets when you were a nipper

A hard boiled sweet in a red tin that I used to steal from my Grandmother - Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls. I hadn’t seen them for years until recently - 5 tins purchased and instant regression to naughty 6 years old me! 🙃

    Bolt blanks?

Hi AES, Without wanting to seem as I’m defending my original position and just for a bit of background info to my “thought processes”. Just had a first son a month back so had “free time” at the most unghastly hour. I stumbled upon these while googling my thoughts and then came up with my...

    Bolt blanks?

Hi Cheshirechappie, Many thanks for your response also. As I put in my reply to Jelly, I don’t think I’d thought through things enough. “If” blanks in mild steel were available and then aligning the thread correctly, ensuring it wasn’t drunken, adding in heat treating it adds up massively in...
