    Just use the blade guard!

Right. So according to that site, it IS an accident (as I have been saying), unless nobody gets hurt, when it is a "near miss" under the heading of "incident". Thank you for confirming what I have been saying.

    Just use the blade guard!

So HSE don't know the meaning of the word either. That is not what the word "Accident" means. There is no reason to not prefer to use the word incident, that is just as correct, but it is simply incorrect to say that it is "NOT an accident". Accident certainly includes things that happen by...

    Just use the blade guard!

I hate people saying "it is NOT an accident". All that shows is your ignorance of the meaning of the word. "Accident" does NOT mean "unpreventable mishap". It means any unintended consequence (usually negative, but not necessarily).

Logging On - From Ash to Ashes (eventually)

That was pretty well my thought too. And he says he has Apple and Maple as well!

    Vaccine Passports (domestic).

The single dose is apparently sufficient to prevent you getting it badly enough to require hospitalisation.

This puts the Virus into the shadows

Neither part of that is close to being true. If we continue to use fossil fuels to generate power at the rate that has been done previously, then extinction is a certainty, not a possibility. And there is no real possibility of nuclear power causing an extinction event.

    Triton series2000

I've got one of those that I bought new about 15 years ago for £400 IIRC. I use it pretty often, good piece of kit. I didn't get the Triton circular saw, just use one I had, and a B&D router with the router sled. That looks good value at £200, with more extras than I bought.

You guys must be heavy drinkers...

So you are saying that he, as somebody who actually used the equipment, was duped into believing it worked, because you, as somebody who knows nothing about it beyond what he has read on the internet don't think it worked. Why doesn't that surprise me?

You guys must be heavy drinkers...

The law does take account of that. What the actual legislation says is (my bold): " In this regulation, any reference to receiving a television programme service includes a reference to receiving by any means any programme included in that service, where that programme is received at the same...

You guys must be heavy drinkers...

And very not true. You need a licence if you want to watch anything broadcast over the air or streamed at the same time as it is broadcast. Or if you want to watch anything on iPlayer (the BBC's own streaming service). But you can watch anything else streaming, whether live or not, without any...

    Interesting response from Screwfix

You mean training staff to break the law? While individuals are perfectly allowed to lift what they like, employers are not allowed to require employees to lift more than 25Kg per person. I'm not sure they are even allowed to let them do so.

    What happens now?

You can claim tax relief on the flat rate of £6 per week. Which for a standard rate taxpayer (20%) means £1.20 a week actual savings to you - which is where he gets the £60 per year from.

    Help Choosing A Chuck

I have an earlier version of the smaller Rutlands kit, and have been totally happy with it. AIUI, the jaws for Nova and RP chucks are also compatible with the Rutlands ones, but I haven't tried any yet, as the initial kit had everything I have wanted except maybe a bigger set of cole jaws.

You know the world is moving fast when....

Not really. There are only two main players - Android and iOS (the third - Fire OS - is a subset of one of those). They don't need to keep it up to date with devices, just with the OS, and those don't change all that often, only a few times a year.

    Best Bicycle lock

I've been getting back into cycling since lockdown - but as I have been working full time from home, that normally means half an hour to an hour after work, so around 8-16 miles, 3-4 times per week. In the summer, I was usually averaging around 15.5-16mph, now it is a little under 15 - today's...

    Rutlands tools

I have only bought one thing from them, which was the previous version of this woodturning chuck kit Woodturning Chucks | Next Day Delivery It was a fair bit cheaper then, at £119 rather than the £159 they are asking for the current one. I have had absolutely no issues with it at all, having...

    Axminster price increasing

So which state out of Montana, Delaware, New Hampshire or Oregon does he live in? Those are the only US states with no sales tax. Others vary between 2.9% and 9.98%.

    Struggling

Not sure why others are telling you it is an Axminster lathe. It appears to be this one https://burtgroup.en.made-in-china.com/product/ToaJHNgAmUYp/China-10X18-Mini-Wood-Lathe-370W-MC1018-.html Which may of course be the underlying model that Axminster buy and rebrand, but technically it isn't...

    Chucks

Quite apart from the flimsiness and small size and unsuitable jaws, it also looks like it isn't a scroll chuck - it looks like you adjust each jaw individually, so getting anything properly centred would be a nightmare.

    Electric vehicles

It is 100% indicative of EV's at large in the medium to long term. It will be absolutely the norm for new Evs being sold by the time new ICEs are banned.
